Be My Valentine Table Runner Be My Valentine Table Runner
By: Moneik, South Dakota, USA

My mom was diagnosed with brain cancer in late 2009, my best friend Jen sent me a charm pack cut into 2.5″ sqrs. to try EPP. I spent 2010 sewing them at every Dr. appt. with mom. I completed the quilt exactly 1 year later on 1/15/11 and she passed away on 2/11/11. It’s a sign of love & friendship.

Braided Hearts Table Runner Braided Hearts Table Runner
By: Sharon Pernes, Texas, USA

I decided this year I will be making a table runner for each holiday and season. I love how table runners spruce up a table and I use them often.

I knew how to make a braid so I just started playing with the fabric and got this. It has some free motion hearts and an applique heart as well.

Conversation Heart Rag Quilt Conversation Heart Rag Quilt
By: Trisha Weekes, Utah, USA

My favorite part about Valentine’s as a child was the little colorful conversation hearts, with their cute messages. With the heart bunting, wall hanging and my quilt; we’re surrounded by their sweetness. I even made shirts for my girls with hearts on them and a matching headband to wear to school.

I Heart Valentines Day I Heart Valentines Day
By: Barb N, Idaho, USA

Christmas was over and I changed my sights from red and green to red and pink. I love the alternating color scheme of this chevron design, and then I cut out a heart and appliqued it to the center. It has brightened my dining table all month long. What’s quilting if it doesn’t make you happy?

Mi Amore Mi Amore
By: Marlene Oddie, Washington, USA

Designed this in the final round of the McCalls Quilt Design Star 2011 contest. The challenge was to use a song to be inspired. I kept hearing the love songs…so the idea of love songs being heard coming from the speaker is what this illustrates. I played with the design until it was 3-d.

Pretty Hearts in a Row Pretty Hearts in a Row
By: Sheryl, Arizona, USA

My “quilt” was made from a cut of fabric that had these hearts all over it, like a panel. I cut them out, layered them with batting, added ribbon hangers, sewed, turned & finished them. Tied them in rows to an 18″ X 14″ metal table-top quilt stand. They (kinda) hide my kitchen appliances.

you hold my love in your hands you hold my love in your hands
By: landscapelady, Vermont, USA

I’m seeing this hand symbol of love used more and more these days, so of course had to make a quilt for Valentine’s day with it. I love the beach so this McKenna Ryan beach background fabric was perfect. A little seagull button is flying in the sky – a simple quilt but then love should be simple ;)

Wonderful exhibition of heart quilts. I’m particularly fond of the “candy heart” pin cushion … FUN! But then there’s my all time favorite quilt, “Spectrum of Love,” that is my entry. It’s one I could not sell.
