Sorry for the delay in getting today’s block posted. It was a gorgeous sunny and warm day here, probably our last of the season, and I needed to get the outside windows done and the balcony winterized. Of course, there’s not much point in doing the windows outside, if I don’t clean them inside too, which meant moving a bunch of sewing stuff out of the way so I could reach them. I’m glad that job is done!
It’s Week 5 of our Celebrate Christmas Quilt-Along. I hope you are enjoying our quilt-along as much as I am. I finally finished some other projects last week, so I hope to get some of the blocks done this weekend.
Block 13, O Christmas Tree, has been designed by Jennifer Bosworth of Shabby Fabrics. Our friends at the Fat Quarter Shop have a fabulous 50% off Super Deal for you to enjoy too.
How does the quilt-along work? Over a 12-week period, 36 fabulously talented designers will be making 12″ blocks that you can make. You can pick and choose which blocks you want to make. Sash them, add borders, baste it, quilt it, and have it ready to give-away or keep for yourself this Christmas. What is your quilting style?
I really enjoy seasonal projects, and I like to mix piecing and applique in the same project.
How did you get started quilting and/or designing?
I wanted to learn how to quilt, so one day I checked out a book from the library on quilting. It was enough information to get me started, and I haven’t stopped since. I started designing because the designs I had in my mind weren’t available as patterns, so I had to create them!
Do you have a favourite quilt?
Quilt for Hope! This is one of the first quilts I designed, and I made it for my daughter, Hope, when she was a baby. This quilt features a cross in the center which reflects that God is at the center of my life.
Quick and fun questions:
- Favourite colour: pink!
- What part of the quilting process do you like the most? Choosing the fabrics is my favorite part.
- What part of the quilting process do you dislike the most? I’m not crazy about hand binding.
- Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, or: Chocolate
Block 13 – Jennifer’s O Christmas Tree
Here’s Jennifer’s O Christmas Tree block. I love how this block is put together by piecing squares of fabric for the tree, then cutting out the tree shape to applique on your background… EASY! This block would make a darling mini quilt on it’s own too. Head over to Jennifer’s blog to download the instructions to complete this block.
