Hand Dyed Fabrics by Lori

I had the pleasure of meeting Lori and her husband at Quilt Market 2 1/2 years ago. They have just recently opened up a shop in the northwestern New York area. If you live near or are driving by, be sure to check out her their lovely log cabin. I can’t wait to visit myself.

What is your quilting style?

I like traditional quilting with a twist. I just love Log Cabin quilts. This one is called Katrina’s Log Cabin and was for my daughter’s wedding. It is from Judy Martin’s Log Cabin Book with some variations. All of the fabric is my own hand dyed cotton and a few silks thrown in.

How did you get started quilting and/or designing?

My Mother quilted before she passed away and unfortunately I didn’t quilt yet then. It did give me the inspiration however to give it a try. Once I tried it I was hooked!

Do you have a favourite quilt?

This is one of my favourite quilts. It is called Mariner’s Compass on the Nine Patch. I had so much fun making it in my favourite colors. It hangs in the entry way to our home. The unexpected combination of the simple nine patch with a mariner’s compass border has been a real hit with the judges when this quilt has been in quilt shows.
