This was the scene the other night around midnight. Both of my boys sleeping soundly in the often fought over chair. I guess they were too tired to fight anymore and decided sleeping together wasn’t so bad after all. The black and white one is Slade and the brown tabby is Daniel. Daniel is 10 [...]

Here’s my submission for Blogger’s Quilt Festival – Fall 2009. So far, I think this quilt that I made for a wedding gift for friends is my all time favourite. I love the warm and rich colours used. It’s a Disappearing Nine Patch. Read more about this quilt and a few other pictures here: Caitlin [...]
Back in August, I told you about Canada’s new quilting magazine: Quilter’s Connection Magazine and that I had written my first-ever article for publication in it. The magazine arrived a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, it’s fabulous. The paper quality is the best of any magazine I’ve seen, the layout is [...]

Running the Quilting Gallery site, it’s no surprise that dozens of quilting-related blogs come across my screen each day. I can’t remember another blog that captured my attention so thoroughly like Leah Day’s 365 Days of Free Motion Quilting Filler Designs. I’ve been watching the progress daily on this blog for a few weeks, and [...]
Here’s the gorgeous mini quilt I received from Bradie in Alberta. I absolutely love it and will hang it in my sewing area for daily inspiration. Thank you Bradie, you are very talented.

Here’s the mini quilt I made for the Good Ol’ Summertime Swap. It will start its journey today to my partner in the States. I used paper piecing strips that I created to stitch the mini flying geese units. They finish at 2″ wide by 1″ high. It went together really quickly and accurately doing [...]

Anita W. from The Netherlands sent me this gorgeous stitched bookmark. I absolutely love it. I adore the fabric too, it’s been washed, ironed and put away in my stash, just waiting for the perfect project. Thanks Anita for your kindness.

Here are the six baby quilts I submitted to my local quilt guild which will be donated to the children’s hospital, The tops for these quilts were made using the charms received from quilters around the world in the Charms for Charity contest I held last year. Many thanks to my friend Gailene for donating [...]
Daniel loves to sit out on the balcony. This is the only pot of flowers I planted this year. I don’t get any direct sunlight, so there’s not much sense in planting stuff that isn’t going to do well.

I finished cleaning the very messy sewing area on Saturday afternoon and took a few pictures as proof before I messed it up again. :) I even have some extra space left on my shelves for more fabric that needs a good home. As you can see, my helpers were very helpful. And, I got [...]

It was my mom’s birthday earlier this week. I sent her this beaded Friendship Bag: I also made her a tote bag from a Moda Bake Shop Tutorial: Close up of the stitching: Free-motion stitching on the back:
Slowly, over the last few weeks (months?) my sewing area has reached the disaster you see here: Piled in the mess are 5 Friendship Bags, 6 baby quilts waiting on labels and binding to be finished, and two lap quilts waiting to be quilted. The table you see in the front does not belong inside. [...]
