It’s time to vote and enter the give-away for this week’s Quilters’ Show & Tell event. This week’s theme is New Beginning Quilts. Our guest judges for this week are Kim from Persimon Dreams and Thearica from Pig Tales and Quilts. They both have 100 bonus points that they’ll assign to four (or less) of their favourite quilts.
Give-Away: Quilters’ Cookbooks
I don’t have a sponsor for this week, so I’ll be giving away copies of the two Quilters’ Cookbooks that I put together from recipes submitted by quilters around the world. The top two quilters with the most votes (from the community plus guest judges) will win a PDF copy of both cookbooks. I’ll also award both copies randomly to two individuals that leave a comment below.
To enter the give-away, leave a comment below answering: Have you started any new block of the months this year? Share a link if it’s available online.
You have until Monday, January 28, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. to enter the give-away.

When I retired from working at very stressful job; I joined our local Quilting Guild and took a beginner’s class from a wonderful teacher. This was my very first quilt; that was 4 years ago; and I’m still smitten with the journey of quilting. Thank you for allowing me to show my work.

Log Cabin quilt created for my cat sitter, made out of left over scraps from previous quilts, wool batting and quilted for me by my friend on her longarm. I finished the binding on the 13th with help from the kittens who nestled under it as I was doing the hand sewing.

This quilt was a new technique for me, curves and freezer paper piecing. The whole piece was put together with the freezer paper on the front of the fabric so you didn’t know what it looked like until the end and you pulled the paper off. A new beginning for me in quilting.

By: Yvonne Bamlett,
This is a crazy quilting technique. I think it is a New Beginning for me because it was difficult to get it to fit properly and it made me realize that even though I have pieced many blocks, this one was the most challenging. The horses are scary looking, but they are supposed to be funky. They are.

I needed a new project to get me moving in the new year. I didn’t want anything too big. I found a pattern in the most recent edition of Easy Quilts. I changed the colors and some of the piecing directions. My scarf is smaller than the one in the magazine as well. it succeeded in getting me moving.

A mini watercolor created for the first week challenge for Project Quilting. I like the creative push in this theme challenge. I am free to express myself and try new things or do what I like best. I used 2 inch squares of floral fabrics to blend this table topper with batik border.
