A Pound of Stars A Pound of Stars
By: Karen H,
Ontario, Canada

This is one of my first quilts. There were no quilters, guilds or fabric shops where I lived. I bought a pound of scraps by mail order to make the stars & used white sheeting for the background. Close-ups are posted on my blog. This is one of my favourite quilts. It is entirely handmade.

How Many Stars does it take to Make a Quilt How Many Stars does it take to Make a Quilt
By: Debbie Lange Quilting,
Indiana, USA

I started making scrappy stars with a diamond template and fabric scraps. Once the stars were completed I needed to figure out how to join them. I thought there must be an easy setting, but I could not find one in any books, patterns or online instructions. So I used the same diamond template.

Fell in love with this design by Marianne Elizabeth. I did an Arabella Rose color way. First large quilt for me and lost my pattern in the middle. I still have a plain and floral border to go. It was a big project for me but I love anything with stars.

Scrappy Star Table Runner Scrappy Star Table Runner
By: Carol a.k.a Beulah,
North Carolina, USA

This is my original design, machine pieced and hand quilted. I love stars, scraps and 9 patch…so I created this table runner using a combination of quilt blocks: a star block and vanishing 9 patch. I love merging traditional quilt blocks to create ‘new’ blocks.

This was a mystery quilt that I did with my “Scrap Therapy” group that meets once a month. Since I am new to the group I did not have a bunch of scraps already cut….. so I picked about 30 plus fabrics from my stash and came up with this. So jokingly I said this was “Stash Therapy” for me.

I love the fat quarter shop. Service is tops. Variety and quality is good, and wow, they ship their materials so nicely you think it’s Christmas when you open it. All around nothing but good. Love to start a new project and a jelly roll would be awesome.
