Conversation Pieces in Red By: Elizabeth Simmons,
Texas, USA
Conversation Pieces pattern by The Caffeinated Quilter – Emily Breclaw. I love her original colors but not for my kitchen. I LOVE it in red! I enjoy the portability of EPP! I pieced and finished during my kids’ gym practice. It is my 2nd attempt at machine quilting.

Dresden Flower By: LeAnne Law,
Oregon, USA
This dresden pattern is by Vicki at Quilting Lodge blog. She was gracious enough to give the pattern away on her blog during the Dare to Dresden blog hop. Our guild challenge was for a small quilt with the theme Rhapsody in Bloom, so I changed it into a flower by adding the stem and leaf.

English Paper Pieced Table Runner By: Karin,
Australia
I came across English Paper Piecing at a Quilt Show some years ago. Seduced by the fabric, I bought a bag each of these tiny squares and hexagons, however the project became an UFO in due course after the first few rows. Last year I dragged it out again and completed it. So worth it in the end.

sam’s {scrappy} quilt By: Sarah @ {no} hats,
Indiana, USA
BB # 3725 (“Sam’s Quilt”) in scrap-happy shades of blue and green. This top is a WIP for the family room as Sam is a family name ;)
Full disclaimer: I tried out EPP but impatience got the best of me and most was done by machine. This block really is an ideal EPP project though!

Spring Flower Hexagons By: Delia Hardcastle,
United Arab Emirates
Spring Flower Hexagons is entirely hand stitched. I’ve been saving fabric scraps from my quilting for the past year and was looking for something to do with them when I discovered and fell in love with the ancient craft of English Paper Piecing. Each of the hexagons is 1.5 inches across.

There’s a snail in Grandma’s flower garden By: Karen H,
Ontario, Canada
There’s one lonely snail hiding in the hand-embroidered border (visit my blog for a close-up look and see if you can find the snail). My Mom is always killing the snails & I rescue them by hiding them in her flower beds! The hexagons are 5/8″; I developed a techique to make the stars & whirligigs.

Yes, I’ve done English Paper Piecing thanks to Paper Pieces little free pack of hexagons. I turned my little flower into a much-loved pincushion. I do not baste through the paper pieces so they can be reused. I also do not cut exact seam allowances just squares whose edges I fold down and do a running stitch through. Be sure to put a knot in your thread though, otherwise you’ll be going round and round in circles. You’ll never get one of those little hex papers covered! Don’t ask how I know this…
I am working on a flower garden quilt, but only have a fe pieced together. I am not fond of handwork so this is gong slow!
I haven’t done any English paper piecing or hexies yet but it’s on my list to try next. Your watermelon pattern is beautiful and I’d love to win it! It looks like a great way to start.
