A BOM from Applewood Farm, this is hanging in my mom’s room at our house. The fabrics are all Rock Candy, a kinda mottled bunch with a shimmer that is reminiscent of Fairy Frost. The quilt told me how it wanted to be quilted before it was even finished!

The blocks in this quilt are crazy quilt blocks made from assorted scraps I had on hand. The sashing, border & back were chosen for their springtime look. The vine with leaves is appliqued. This lap quilt was my first attempt at FMQ on an actual quilt. It was given as a gift to my mother-in-law.

English Paper Piecing hexies and sewing them by hand was so nice to be able to do on the go. The hexagons are scrappy spring fabrics. Applique and machine embroidery were other techniques used. Quilting is a large zig zag both horizontal and vertical – inspired by Norma Jean at Crazy Mom Quilts.

This was my Paint Pot Challenge entry. I pulled a paint chip from a tin and the colour had to be prominently featured in the quilt. The name of the quilt was the colour of the chip. I love Spring because that is when the migratory birds come through. Rosy Outlook says the warblers are on their way!

Original design-Created for a guild challenge. We could use only black and white and one color. I was given yellow, and instantly thought of goldfinch and butterflies. I like the contrast of black and white sheep with the pop of color.

This quilt is made with a Cori Dantini panel that I was hoarding because I love her work so much. Around the panel I tried my hand at one block wonder blocks. I wanted to do some free-from trellis quilting through the flowers, use a filler and echo quilting. I did fused and regular applique also.

    Freesias. They are the only flower other than old fashioned roses, like the Willie Brunner, that I can take the scent.

    Namaqualand Daisies that flower only in Southern Africa. They are a wild flower and are spectacular when flowering. Google them and have a look!

    My favourite spring flower are daffodils. The yellow ones are so nice. Ot’s a shame it’s still too cold here for many flowers.

    I love all of the spring flowers, but my favorites are the wild Virginia bluebells. They grow in our bottom ground and look like a sea of blue when they bloom. They have a beautiful scent, as well.

    Without a doubt it is the diminutive snowdrop. They are a harbinger of spring. The tiny blossoms look so delicate and they hold the promise of warmer days and the return of the migratory birds.

    I have daffodils, wisteria, fressias, jasmine, lemon blossoms and several roses that pefume my yard. I can’t choose a favorite. I wish I had lilacs!

    I love to see the bright yellow daffodils every spring. The lilacs even top the daffodils, though.

    My favorite spring flower is Lily of the Valley. We have quite a large patch growing under some walnut trees and the fragrance is beautiful in the spring air.

    Cherry blossoms are probably the most popular in japan but I love plum blossoms because they are the true harbinger of spring.

    My Favorite flower as of now, because it changes, is the “Bleeding Heart” I have one out my front door and it’s beautiful.
