Christmas Quilts

This was made in my 1st Class (hence the name) at a local quilt shop. Being self and internet taught, I thought some lessons could be helpful – and they sure were. I was very pleased with the results of this class and love the birds in hats I found for the backing.

This Christmas tree is full with all those funny, beautiful, crazy, special, homemade and other decorations that don’t make it to the real tree. Every year a few things are added. Check out my blog for details!

Our granddaughter loves all things Scottie Dogs, so this year, I made her a Scottie lap quilt. Can’t wait to give the quilt to her.

I used some of my favourite fabrics in my quilt – snowflakes, plaids and homespun – making a real cosy cottage-chic quilt! Pattern called Vintage Holiday and I love the baubles! This is my first festive quilt and I will hang it on a wall to bring cheer to the cottage I live in! Merry Christmas!

This little quilt kept growing from a single test block I liked to what was to be a lap robe to a Queen size quilt. It has a wrap around block on the leading edge, a scrappy binding and an asymmetrical placement of the 26 inch star blocks.

This quilt is one of my original designs. It is paper pieced and has a heart shaped button and a jingle bell. I like to hang one on my front door so the bell rings every time the door is opened.

This row quilt was the sample that I made for a class that I taught – Strip of the Month Club at our LQS. The pattern was designed by Carolyn Beam and long arm quilted by Terry Gravila (one of my students). What a fun project!!

My sister and I decided to split some old fabrics we found in my mother’s stash after she passed away. It is amazing how different each of our quilt’s looks even though we used the same fabrics. Pattern from The Quilter, Holiday 2009.

This Christmas quilt I made for my daughter. She turned it into an advent calendar by sewing on rings. Interesting to sew, and I could use small scraps in this project.

A Rosemary Makhan design, every one of the 30 stars has different fabrics (120 fabrics in all) – a quilter friend and I bought fat quarters and shared them. Machine applique is one of my favorite techniques. This quilt is now owned by a friend of 50-plus years and her husband.

This design was shown on the back of the insert with a ten degree wedge ruler I purchased from Phillips Fiber Art. I used one Christmas print and Michael Miller Fairy Frost Metallic Blenders for the red and green. I made it for my son and his children to enjoy.

I won a pack of fat quarters then shortly after I found on McCalls Quilting Blog a Westward Journey “quilt along” that was perfect for my fabric. I made it a bit smaller. First time I did a scrappy pieced binding and I really like it. I did the piecing, quilting, and binding. Added strips to back.

The pattern is a AccuQuilt pattern that is available on their website. I have the dies for the ribbon shapes and holly leaves; rest of the appliques were hand-cut. Centers of the flowers are yo-yos. Stippling was done in the center of the wreath and areas surrounding the wreath.

I’ve called it my Crazy Christmas Trees because I absolutely do not do scrappy, or unsymmetrical, but just look at this. 30+ fabrics and about as unsymetrical as they come. You know what though? I love it! Pattern is from Pieces From My Heart.

I made this for my Daughter-in-law, Jeniva for Christmas this year, in her favorite colors of red and lime green. She hasn’t seen it Yet! I used Christmas Twist by Hoffman Batiks.

This quilt is a 2010 Block of the Month from a local quilt store. I was not a friend of this quilt while making it, it was challenging and required the seam ripper way too often! Now, that I have had it held up and photographed, I find it beautiful! I just completed it this last week

Quilt size: width: 65" height: 78"

This is the first quilt I made with the paper piecing technique, using fabrics that I had on hand. The nine centre blocks are surrounded by a string of Christmas lights. The pattern was offered by Paper Panache a LONG time ago!

This is a Charlie Scott pattern. I saw this quilt while on vacation a year ago and just had to have it. The fabric line is Fruit Cake by Basic Grey for Moda which was discontinued 2 years ago. I was able to get a great deal of the fabric to make the quilt. I’m so happy to have the to snuggle with.

This is the first quilt I made. I even hand quilted it! It was a lot of fun to make all the different ‘scenic’ blocks and embellish them too. I didn’t know what I was doing at the time…but I actually pieced the backing!

This is a snow girl with snow hat and scarf made from beautiful colors. It brings a lot of fun and a happy mood to your Christmas Times.

Quilt size: width: 17.7" height: 30.3"

The rich reds and brown tone colors of this quilt are the eye catcher, it took a while to find just the right carmels to go on the borders. So it was in the UFO pile for 12 months. Now it is done and ready to use for Christmas. The pattern is from a fabulous book called a Quilted Country Christmas

This quilt is made from a pattern by Debbie Mumm. It was intended to be much smaller and use raw edge applique. I enlarged it and machine appliqued because I prefer finished edges. It was a very fun quilt to make! I enjoy hanging it every Christmas!

This was the first quilt I made with a scalloped edge.

In 2008, I crossed stitched the blocks. The background fabric is one pieced. Reversed appliqued the blocks and finished by machine appliqueing. Machine quilted the words “Merry Christmas” between the 2nd and 3rd row.

It´s a patchwork and applique quilt in the colours of christmas. I love it.

This runner was made using a wonky placement of pre-pieced shapes and using the chisel die for my accuquilt. The design is based off my quilt, Refracted Sunset accepted as part of The Modern Quilt Guild Showcase which was showcased at the quilt festival in Houston, TX.
