How did you get into quilting?

That is a long story best summed up by saying that my mother ruthlessly wrangled me into it! I began longarm quilting before learning to piece. I started longarming in November of 2008 and this is my first quilt made in early 2009. I didn’t know how to bind, so it was sewn to the back with a visible running stitch!

How/when/why did you transition from a quilter to a designer?

I realized after completing my fourth-ish quilt that I don’t really like following a pattern. I like to make it up as I go and keep my fingers crossed that it works!

Which quilt is your favourite? Did you design it? Why is it your favourite?

My favorite quilt is always my most recent quilt, or whatever I’m working on at the time. Unfortunately I cannot share a photo!

How many UFOs do you currently have? I have one that I’m working on myself, one that I have someone piecing for me, and several stuck in my brain but I do not consider any of them UFOs. I am anti-UFO.

What size of quilt do you prefer to make/design? It depends on my mood and the function of the quilt. I like to do anything from 40×40 to large bed sized.

What colour do you use most often in your quilts? All of my most recent quilts has been BRIGHT. And one that I’m working on is even shiny. ;)

Favourite one-sentence tip for a new quilter: You’ll never know what you’re capable of until you try.

Favourite size and brand of rotary cutter: 45mm Clover! It’s my baby!

Favourite quote or mantra: “Do Epic Shit” – Am I allowed to say that?

Block Party #45 – Pumpkin Patch(work)

Here’s Lisa’s block: Pumpkin Patch(work). Don’t worry, the background looks more complicated than it really is. Head over to Lisa’s blog to view the tutorial.
