Quilted Pillows

Having made several items from selvages, a pillow seemed like a fun and easy idea. I love the brightness of this with the lime green Metro Living dots.

I made a quilt for our bed, and with the extra fabric I did my first paper piecing, which looks like the ‘Bird of Paradise’ to me.

I handquilted this blue wholecloth pillow. So relaxing :)

These pillows were made with a couple of charm packs I had in my stash. They were inspired by a project my nieces had made at a quilt retreat at my mom’s. They were so much fun to make and quick and easy to do.

I made three of these pillows from leftover plates from a dresden plate quilt. I got the fabric from an Amish quilt shop in Lancaster, PA.

This is a pillow that I made for my little 10 yr. old neighbor. She drew me a picture and I made it into the pillow. I wish I could show you the picture, to see how similiar they are. She loved it.

Taken from the Jenny Haskins design for ‘Fabricadabra Quilt’ this pillow shows the same embroidery embedded design in a smaller way. I love the pillow. It is backed with Fusible Fleece, the top was a combination of embroidery design and quilting, then the ruffles were applied and finally the back.

My “Apprentice” made her first quilted pillow entirely alone. the corners match PERFECTLY! I know it’s not nearly as fancy as the others that are posted, but I want her to see herself as a true designer, even if she IS young. I hope others will see that, too.

I’m a romantic by heart and love applique so I designed a quilt along with a matching pillow. This is the pillow and I call it Garden Romance!

This pillow was inspired by a canvas collage I saw that was made up of the words “I Love You”. I thought it would be really fun to have an entire quilt made up like that since what says “I love you” better than a quilt … so to give the idea and pattern a test run I made this pillow :)

This was a project that I never was going to finish as a quilt, and thus made a pillow out of it. I don’t know if it fits the rules, as it is not quilted, but used a quilting pattern for it instead.

I made a quilt and 2 pillows in miniature doll house scale. So, if a real pillow is 12″, a miniature scale doll pillow will be 1″. Each pillow top contains 17 pieces, made by paper piecing. I still enjoy small piecing like this, even though I have low vision.

I Love Cats!! I made this for a pillow challenge for our quilt guild. It’s hand apliqued and beaded.

I designed this pillow so that I would be able to comfortably read in bed with my back supported. A triangle shape seemed perfect! Then I decided to incorporate my love of patchwork, scraps and buttons to make the pillow extra special. Free motion quilting added the finishing touch.

I bought some Rose pink silk in a sale which was exactly right for this project. The pattern from a magazine is based on the work of Rennie Macintosh. Corded Trapunto work with hand embroidered seeding in 2 shades of purple, French knots in dark pink. Hand quilted with a medium shade of purple.

I love tulips and only wish I could grow real ones as easily as I can from fabric! I drew this tulip design for a penny rug, then decided to use it on a pillow. I made three pillows for the bedroom and this one in 30’s prints is my favorite!

I found this little pattern for a cute embroidery and knew I had to make it. Then added pretty squares of modern fabric. it got me addicted to stitcheries!!!!

This pillow case was made for my son by request to replace one he already had. The colours were all picked by him (yes i was a little worried at first) and i think it turned out really well.
The pillow case is quilted in a all over free motion pattern.

This is a pillow I made from the 2009 Cross Country Quilt Designer Blog Hop. It’s a pattern by Pat Sloan and the fabrics are The Caroler by Mary Engelbreit.
I gave it to my daughter Christine for Christmas that year.
