Welcome to my stop on the first-ever Aurifil Blog Hop. Thanks so much Pat for inviting me to share my love of Aurifil threads.

I hope you’ve been having fun on this blog hop, collecting the Spring blocks that have been created and leaving comments for your chance to win some Irresistible Aurifil Threads.

Nine bloggers, nine blocks and 10 chances to win. Here are the other participants:

Be sure to leave a comment on each blog before Saturday for your chance to win the grand prize:

Share your finished blocks in the Flickr group.

Aurifil Threads are Irresistible.

Aurifil makes 4 weights of its 100% cotton Mako threads: 12wt, 28wt, 40wt and 50wt. The larger the number, the smaller the thread. I use the 50wt thread for all of my piecing. I love how thin it is and that it doesn’t add any bulk to my seams when pressed.

Pat’s done a great video on the different thread weights and how to recognize the spool colours:

I love how Aurifil threads have a tiny bit of shine to them and shimmer ever-so-slightly when the light hits them. Hopefully you can see the shimmering effect in this photo:

I love the subtle gradients in many of their threads. I have two nieces and these purple and pink gradient threads get used often.

I love that when I use the 50wt thread for hand appliqué, the stitches vanish right into the fabric.

I love that I can get gorgeous machine blanket stitch, accurate stitch-in-the-ditch and beautiful dense quilting with Aurifil threads. I’ve been using Aurifil threads for two years and not once has my thread broken.

For me, Aurifil threads are irresistible. They make my quilting life more enjoyable and beautiful.

Here’s my block: Hidden Star. Made up of simple half-square triangles and four patches. Don’t let the on-point layout scare you, it’s super easy to put together.

Download the block instructions here: Hidden-Star-Quilting-Gallery

Leave a comment below telling me what’s your favourite season and why? For me, it’s Spring, when the birds return and the flowers and trees awaken from their cold Winter’s nap.

Two winners will be selected to win a thread sampler pack containing one spool of each of the different weights of Irresistible Aurifil Threads. Winners will be selected on Saturday.

Today (Thursday) is the last day to enter your quilt in this week’s contest Colourful Modern Quilts. Check back on Friday for your chance to vote for your favourite.

My favorite season is Fall. I just love the colors and there is not much better than snuggling up with a cup of hot chocolate on those chilly days!

I’ve just bought some Aurifil thread after seeing all the buzz about it…I can’t wait to see how the heavier weight looks when I try it for machine quilting.

Please throw my name in the hat!!

Now, if you asked my husband, his reply would be “Footy Season” :-) … but that’s not the kind of season you refer to!!! I love Autumn. We have horrible hot and humid summers here in Queensland so when that first chill is in the air it is just so refreshing and I can’t wait to get into some quilting! I’m hoping that it will be with Aurifil thread!!

Summer is my favourite season. Even though it can get quite hot, I love the long days of sunshine that lets me sew longer into the evening. Thanks for the chance to have some of those lovely threads.

Now that I live somewhere that actually has “seasons” unlike Southern California where I grew up, I love fall the best! Love the colors, the mild temperatures in the day and chilly nights, and pumpkin pie! I love your block, too. Nothing better than an “on point” block! Thanks!

Fall is definitely my favorite. Living in the south brings a very hot summer, and the cool weather of fall brings such a relaxing feeling. You can finally go outside and not melt. Plus, the fall colors are my favs — for clothes, curtains and quilts! Go figure.

My favorite season is summer. I feel a little bad, but the reason I love summer so much is because I am a teacher… that first month of summer is HEAVENLY after a long year of working SO hard with all those kids!

I love winter – everything is at rest and peaceful. I like the stark color contrasts of winter. I even like the cold (and snow). BUT I am the only one in my family (maybe the world) who does.

My favorite season is fall because its warm reds and yellows offset the chill that is the best relief from summer’s swelter. As for aurifil thread, I discovered it when I began hand piecing. I love how it slides through cotton.

I love the Aurifil threads there are so many beautiful colors, and that pink and purple I have to get those I would be using them all the time. Purple is my all time favorite.

I love the hidden star I have to make that one, it will make a great quilt and people will really be talking about it.
