Amanda's Autumn Leaves Amanda’s Autumn Leaves
By: Amanda Ryan, United Kingdom

I designed this little quilt for a competition run by local Women’s Institute group. The applique is all done by machine and it is free motion quilted. The ric rac is made of felt, which I’ve never seen before.

Aspen Leaf Quilt Aspen Leaf Quilt
By: Judee K, California, USA

This is from a kit I purchased in a tiny shop in a small mountain lake community we visit every fall. The quilt contains mostly gorgeous batiks in blues and greens. The falling aspen leaves are hand appliqued to look like they are on the lake water. Half square triangles are the only block pattern.

Autumn Bliss Autumn Bliss
By: Sharon Vrooman, New York, USA

This was Bonnie Hunter’s 2009 mystery quilt – Carolina Christmas, but I made it with colors and fabrics that remind me of the up-state NY fall pallette – my favorite time of the year. This quilt represents my hearth and home for the fall season.

Autumn Comfort Autumn Comfort
By: Jen, Massachusetts, USA

I used this quilt as a challenge to myself to use colors that I don’t normally use. It was a fun and gratifying quilt to make. Since making this quilt I find myself challenging my use of color in more of my quilts. I consider this quilt to be the inspiration I needed to expand my use of colors.

I have always loved the autumn colours and since I started quilting, I adored the Autumn Splendor block. Finally I made one. The fabrics are scraps and pieces from my stash and the backing is polyester fleece.
I cuddle up in it almost every night. Original design.

Autumn Splendor used 5″ charms in 2009. Design is by Lynda Luiten, owner, Qulter’s Market, Tucson, Arizona. I machine appliqued maple leaves on some squares and machine pieced entire quilt. It was longarm quilted by Julie House of Green Valley, AZ. I enjoy having it hang in my family room all year.

This quilt was a gift for my BFF. She loves the fall season and the array of colors it brings. The pattern is a variation of Eleanor Burns “Quick Trip”. Once I started putting the fabrics together it just flowed.

I used a photo taken by my husband as inspiration for this piece. It’s a small waterfall on the Mumford River in Uxbridge, MA. The fall foliage makes the most beautiful reflection on the river.

I made this quilt for GQ Fall-inspired Swap 2009. It went to Gabi in Germany.
This was designed by Pat Sloan, one of my favorite designers, I knew batiks would be perfect for it. It was my first try at appliqué, so guess who likes appliqué now?!

Great Outdoors Great Outdoors
By: Lindy, Washington, USA

Fall, my favorite season. Warm days, crisp nights, sweaters feel good again! This wall quilt captures all the things I love about the great outdoors in fall; fishing, camping, animals, colorful leaves, wind through the evergreens, eagle soaring, a gazillion stars in a black sky, geese headed south.
