Our Story:

We understand how important it is to save money where we can when it comes to quilting fabric. We discount our fabric right when it comes through our door. We have been on both sides of Quilting and Sewing, we have been consumers and now an online quilt fabric store. Our experience as a consumer has been the catalyst to creating Jojo’s Quilt and Gift Shoppe.

We know that it can be a challenge to find good quality fabric at a reasonable price on the internet or even at your local quilt store. The online auctions always ended up at a higher price when the auction ended. The last straw was when a specific backing fabric was needed for the finishing of a quilt called "Roman Holiday by 3 Sisters for Moda Fabrics". Of course it was two years later and it was very difficult to find the backing print that would work perfectly. After a long search on the internet, the backing was found! In Australia! Wow, the price and the shipping total was much more than here in the U.S., of course. There was no way around it, every store I inquired at locally and online told me I wouldn’t be able to find more yardage because it was an old print. The purchase was completed but the frustration lingered.

Jojo’s Quilt and Gift Shoppe opened online shortly thereafter and the primary focus was having low prices on a continuous basis. The secondary focus is being a locator of quilt fabrics that are over a year old by Moda Fabrics or any other quilt fabric manufacturer. We would love to help you find the specific fabric or a variation of the line to complete your project. Surprisingly enough when we looked up "Roman Holiday" with Moda, we found 10 different prints available. So our answer to that was, "Let’s take the extra step of helping others to find that special piece of fabric". Contact us anytime at jbeane@jojosgiftshoppe.com and we will gladly search our manufacturer’s inventory for your specific needs. We believe it is always worth the try!

Quality Quilt Fabric packaged with care:

Your order of quilting fabric is cut by hand, we add an extra inch and carefully package your items to ensure a safe delivery to your door. All quilt fabrics are packaged in plastic for protection against the weather. We also ensure that your envelope or box is well secured with tape, we know how those envelopes can fall apart at the seams!

We also know how important it is to save on postage, we are very creative when it comes to packaging, if we can fit more in your package, we will. You can contact us anytime to make a custom fit of products in your package so that you can maximize the use of your postage dollars. Customers are encouraged to send us an e-mail at jbeane@jojosgiftshoppe.com so that we can custom pack your order. We strive to ship your quilting fabric within 24 hours.

Quilt Contest: Snowmen

Congratulations to Jean Shores of Nebraska for winning last week’s weekly themed quilt contest, New Year’s Party Time, with her very fun quilt It’s Five O’clock somewhere in German. Thanks to Pat Sloan for her generous prize.

This week’s theme is SNOWMEN. I’m sure it will be very popular. To enter, read the rules and guidelines, then submit your quilt photo. Voting will start on Friday and last until Sunday night.

This week’s contest has been sponsored by Blackberry Quilts. Enter to win this super cute kit to make the quilt top! The light blue and red Scotty Dog baby quilt is their newest design.

Scottie-Baby-Quilt

Blackberry Quilts specializes in quilts that you can finish! They feature pre-cut quilting kits for beginners. Stef Russell, owner, grew up sewing, and surrounded by crafty women who taught her how to sew and knit and crochet and embroider. Now she plays with fabric, and designs quilts.

Stef grew up with her grandmother and great grandmother’s quilts. On family gatherings her grandma Vera would carefully unwrap the wedding ring quilt from its tissue covering in the cedar chest to show it off. Vera’s mother, a Russian immigrant with a talent for sewing, adopted American quilting. She made each of her 7 sons a wedding ring quilt. The 4 daughters were not so fortunate – she believed the girls could make their own! The wedding ring quilts were a happy mix of scraps from dresses and feedsacks. (They raised chickens – 10,000 chickens – and sold the eggs! Oh, the feedsacks! Stef wishes she knew were they all went………)

Stef works with the 1930s reproduction prints. They make her smile. Blackberry Quilts also offers fabrics by the yard, charm squares, and jelly rolls for the quilters who like to make their own creations!

The Blackberry Quilts Blog is a little window into Stef’s workshop. She shares her favorite links and projects. Sometimes she is working on sewing projects with her Girl Scout troop, recycling thrift store finds into a sewing project, or posting a tutorial.

Second chance to win: This week, Stef is giving away another quilt top kit for the Scotty Dog featured above to one lucky winner that subscribes to her newsletter. To enter, head over to the Blackberry Quilts web site, on the left-hand side column, you’ll see a box to join their mailing list. One winner will be randomly chosen from those that subscribe this week.
