Audrey II Audrey II

This is the very first water color quilt I made. I saved this sweet-pea pattern from an old, old batting cover.
The Sweet-pea is my favorite flower, and the flower of my birth month. My Granddad gave me a bouquet of sweet-peas every year for my birthday beginning when I was 1 year old.

Christmas in July Christmas in July
By: Sharon Vrooman, New York, USA

This was our guild’s summer challenge -each given a bag with a small piece of seasonal fabric – mine was snowmen. I made a color wash of our rose arbor entry to one of the flower beds, adorned with inviting snowmen for a Christmas in July. Hand quilted

Circle of Live Circle of Live

I always wanted to make a watercolor quilt.
But what a time it took my to put the squares on the right place!
When I was finished there still was something missing.
My husband found the solution!
He bought the fabric with the flower that I appliqué on.
It is machine patch and hand quilted

Garden From Heaven Garden From Heaven
By: Cheryl Hartzog, Florida, USA

Made 4 yrs ago, took lots of different flower fabrics, inspired by a book called Watercolor Impressions by Pat Margaret & Donna Slusser.

Made at my Mom’s on her wallboard, took a week to get the right layout before sewing. I had fun making this and just finished the machine quilting in July.

Garden Shed Garden Shed
By: Debbie Clarke, South Carolina, USA

From my sewing room window, I can see a corner of our garden shed, which was my inspiration for this wall hanging. Viewed from a distance the path flows from the border to the secret garden behind the shed.

Taking Time to Smell the Roses Taking Time to Smell the Roses
By: Erilyn McMillan, New Zealand

A challenge entry in 2007. Every watercolour piece is a flower. I added the trees after the quilt underneath was completed. This is what I think relaxing, with a good book, is about – taking time to smell the roses.

Water Garden Water Garden
By: Cathy, New Jersey, USA

I went through quite a watercolor phase, cutting up a good part of my stash into 2″ squares. Then I discovered the strip piecing method and this quilt was born! It hangs in my kitchen, in rotation with several others I made to fit this space.

Watercolor Garden Watercolor Garden
By: Jill Majers, Utah, USA

I started this quilt in a class on watercolor quilts and finished it for a guild challenge. I knew I wanted to add applique and the tulips seemed to suit the spring like feeling of the quilt. On one of the leaves is a tiny ladybug. I looked for a suitable button, but ended up using an earring.

Garden shed is designed beautifully. The contrasting border separated by the black “piping”is stunning. The overall depth created in the quilt is wonderful. Very 3D! Congratulations on a lovely quilt!
