Summer’s first quilt By: Alison Saunders, Missouri, USA This was the first quilt that I ever quilted and it was done this summer! It was a practice quilt made from leftover HST from a graduation quilt for a friend’s son. So, this one will be for his first child. Sweet Summer Days By: Gale Lavers, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada Sew Along with Ellison Lane Blog June 2013. All blocks paper pieced and we got to decide how we wanted to finish it. Believe it or not, my favorite activity is staying inside – it’s too hot where I live! LOL!
My favorite suumertime activity is working in my garden (when it’s not too hot).
Summertime is best spent by the pool or at the sewing machine :-)
A friend and I started a new summer tradition: we sew/quilt companion projects! That means we plan similar designs/pieces, share fabric from our stashes, and get together to cut, mark, and stitch about once a week.
We live in sunny (extremely hot) Florida so our Summer activities either involve swimming or staying indoors trying to stay cool. Most Floridians stay inside during the Summer and come out in the Fall/Winter to do normal Summer activities like bike riding, walking, and picnicking.
I like to stay inside and quilt when it is hot outside.
I love to work in the garden early in the morning when everything is waking up and the air is still. Afternoons on the porch with iced coffee. Thanks for this wonderful giveaway. Judy C in NC

My favourite summer activity alternates between swimming in the pool and quilting, depending on the weather. Unfortunately this year I broke my arm – so reading has mived into first place. :)

My favorite summer time activity would have to be going to the beach.
“Summertime and the living is easy…”so I do my best to remember to enjoy that feeling and to live in that moment as much as I can! I love to garden, but I take lots of breaks and take time to smell the flowers, to sit outside with my cat and chickens playing freely in the yard, and to read a good book, or my favorite quilting magazine! Then, with a deep sigh of relaxation, I head back inside to quilt to my heart’s content….rejuvenated inside and out from my respite.
Relaxing in Florida for THE summer ( I live in THE Netherlands ) while there I order supplies, buy quilting magazines and books, visit à quilt show in Delray or Melbourne. Get inspiration by visiting places like THE Orchid society, Butterfly world, Morikami gardens etc.
Now that I live in Florida my favorite summertime activity is staying inside and stitching!

Favourite summer activity…piecing quilts, as it is usually too warm to quilt. If it is too warm to piece… time to hit the beach.

I enjoy the view of my garden from inside the cool house. However, I do get more sewing done in the winter, when said garden doesn’t need tending.

Summer is family time! While I visit I can play in their gardens and pull weeds to me hearts content, and in the evenings and while travelling I can piece blocks for my next quilt. Perfect!
I just keep on quilting all year long. But I also love horseback riding & carving eggs.
I love wading in the creek below our home with my grandson. We walk through the overhang of trees and grass making our way to Dinasour Island. What a wonderful time we have.
I love going to the lake and beach, and driving with the sunroof open, and sitting on the patio. I’ve even cut quilt blocks outside!!
