How did you get into quilting?
For as long as I can remember I’ve been drawn to scrappy patchwork quilts. My grandmother had them when I was a little girl and as I grew up my love affair with them only grew. When I was about 27 years old my mother-in-law bought me a quilt kit and my mother let me borrow her sewing machine. It wasn’t until I was about 33 that I began really working on that quilt kit. I’ve been hooked on quilting ever since.
How/when/why did you transition from a quilter to a designer?
In 2009 I hosted a quilt along on my blog that grew beyond my wildest imagination. The Flickr group that was born as a result didn’t want to stop quilting along just because that first quilt was complete. From that point on I’ve grown into a designer of sorts.
Which quilt is your favourite? Did you design it? Why is it your favourite?
My favorite quilt? Oh! Well that changes depending on whichever quilt I’ve just completed. The most recent seems to always be my favorite.
How many UFOs do you currently have? Three. I’m generally a start-to-finish kind of quilter.
What size of quilt do you prefer to make/design? I prefer to make bed-sized quilts.
What colour do you use most often in your quilts? Hard to say but I do know that the most common color of binding I use is red.
Favourite one-sentence tip for a new quilter: There are no quilting police!
