How did you get into quilting?
I had made quilts before, but it wasn’t until I started the Cincinnati chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild in February of 2010 that I really started to quilt regularly.
How/when/why did you transition from a quilter to a designer?
I think I’ve always been a designer. My background is in fine arts, so I’ve always been interested in creating work that is unique and doesn’t look like anybody else’s.
Which quilt is your favourite? Did you design it? Why is it your favourite?
I think my all time favorite one is my Yield quilt. It was the first quilt that I designed based on a drawing in my sketchbook. It was also the first project I made that was inspired by something kind of non-traditional; in this case, a painted sign in the parking lot of my local Wal-Mart.
How many UFOs do you currently have? Probably three or four.
What size of quilt do you prefer to make/design? I prefer quilts to be at least lap size or larger.
What colour do you use most often in your quilts? Some shade of creamy white.
Favourite one-sentence tip for a new quilter: Quilting doesn’t have to be intimidating; you can do it!
Favourite size and brand of rotary cutter: I love my Havel’s 60mm rotary cutter.
Favourite quote or mantra: “Stop acting as if life is a rehearsal. Live this day as if it were your last. The past is over and gone. The future is not guaranteed.” — Dr. Wayne Dyer.
