Paper Pieced Quilts

Made from a guild challenge using 2 Robert Kaufman Kona Charm Packs. I have always loved spiral quilts, and this challenge motivated me to give it a try. All paper-pieced and freemotion quilted on my domestic Singer.

this quilt was done as a challenge on the carol doak yahoo site.. all the pp blocks in the quilt are from her books.. the center block is the australia block and the peacock fabric is the final border.. hence the name.. australian peacock.. i love paper piecing!.. this is my fav quilt so far..

I have made 4 China Dolls and a China Boy for my children. Each quilt has different colours.

This is my first paper pieced work. Made for grandson who wanted his new bedroom to be painted with “car colors”. The front is made from 12 different fabric choices. The back is Yellow with small black tires as the print. My grandson still won’t go to bed without his quilt.

An HGTV message boards Scraps to Treasure challenge quilt from 2010. I think it’s my favorite of my challenge quilts because I loved the fabric colors. Those orange and turquoise diagonals just made the quilt seem organized with so many scrappy fabrics.

I used the technique where you sew the arcs onto paper. Love it that way! :) I used some leftovers from my Central Park Jelly Roll and Kona Cotton Snow. A bigger DWR is half way done. So sadly I could not enter it here. ;) But maybe you would like to see it on my blog.

This was made in a class I took on curved paper piecing with Donna Ward. I love the technique and I’ve used it in several of my quilts.
The colours were chosen from what was in my stash. I didn’t want to spend more money on something that wasn’t my design but I love it. It’s a party in a quilt!

flying geese galore! Twiddletails blog designed it and had the pattern posted every month. This was the most flying geese i have ever made– and to top it off they are all paper pieced. I think picking paper off was worse than sewing it!

My quilt was inspired by a visit to my distant cousins in the Netherlands. I began collecting patterns from a variety of sources, and even designed one of my own. The pattern on the background fabric is from Van Gogh.

This is the second quilt that I made. I was working on it while also trying to care for my brother while he was dying. He passed before I could get it finished, but Kaliph (my brother) still defeated the Beast within and died peacefully. The quilt pattern is from an old Foundation Piecer magazine.

I made this little quilt for a swap. It was so much fun to make. The tiniest pieces I’ve ever done.

English paper pieced hexagons form the focus of this quilt with the large stars and hexagon border.
The quilt is entirely hand pieced, hand appliquéd and hand quilted. Started in February 2010, it was finished in time to hang in the NSW Quilters Guild annual exhibition in June 2011.

I was challenged to make a mini…love feathered stars! Machine pieced & quilted…SID around the FS & quilted FS’s in the light tan corners. In the border I quilted on the diagonal.

Jinny Beyer’s 2010 BOM, ‘Jinny’s Garden’ paper pieced flowers. I changed some of the colorings of the flowers prompting me to rearrange their placement too. Used a different background (although black too), border prints, setting triangles and sashing fabric. I enjoyed the variety of this quilt.

This is my first PP quilt and my Hubby claimed it after the first block. It is all batic fabric, scraps from other quilts, and it’s all Hand Quilted!!!

This quilt was a BOM I took part in 2005 ,each block is paper pieced with some applique as well , It was my first time doing this much paper piecing and was a lot of work but well worth the effort.
