Aurifil Threads are Irresistible.
Aurifil makes 4 weights of its 100% cotton Mako threads: 12wt, 28wt, 40wt and 50wt. The larger the number, the smaller the thread. I use the 50wt thread for all of my piecing. I love how thin it is and that it doesn’t add any bulk to my seams when pressed.
Pat’s done a great video on the different thread weights and how to recognize the spool colours:
I love how Aurifil threads have a tiny bit of shine to them and shimmer ever-so-slightly when the light hits them. Hopefully you can see the shimmering effect in this photo:
I love the subtle gradients in many of their threads. I have two nieces and these purple and pink gradient threads get used often.
I love that when I use the 50wt thread for hand appliqué, the stitches vanish right into the fabric.
I love that I can get gorgeous machine blanket stitch, accurate stitch-in-the-ditch and beautiful dense quilting with Aurifil threads. I’ve been using Aurifil threads for two years and not once has my thread broken.
For me, Aurifil threads are irresistible. They make my quilting life more enjoyable and beautiful.
Here’s my block: Hidden Star. Made up of simple half-square triangles and four patches. Don’t let the on-point layout scare you, it’s super easy to put together.
Download the block instructions here: Hidden-Star-Quilting-Gallery
Leave a comment below telling me what’s your favourite season and why? For me, it’s Spring, when the birds return and the flowers and trees awaken from their cold Winter’s nap.
Two winners will be selected to win a thread sampler pack containing one spool of each of the different weights of Irresistible Aurifil Threads. Winners will be selected on Saturday.
Today (Thursday) is the last day to enter your quilt in this week’s contest Colourful Modern Quilts. Check back on Friday for your chance to vote for your favourite.
Autumn. Warm enough to be pleasant, but those hideous 40C days are a thing of the past.
And in a few days autumn will be here!!!
I love summer!
Autumn is my favorite, perhaps because I am an October baby. Wild, windy, colorful…
Anyway, thanks for the chance at these lovely threads.
Living in Florida I love Spring as it’s beautiful before the humidity and heat of summer sets in. Unfortunately it is very short! I like seeing all the Sandhill Crane chicks also.
Spring and Fall – both – color presents itself with every turn of the head and the palatte is all there for inspiration and pleasure. What an awesome giveaway and we all love Aurifil Thread – what wonderful lucious colors. Thanks JCnNC
great block, spring is my favorite
I love Spring. The flowers blooming, the sparrows nesting, the green fields sprinkled with red poppies.
Thank you for the great blog hop and a beautiful block.
If I can’t get Auriful… I’m really disappointed. I have found no other thread I like better. Blog hopping is FUN!
SPRING!!!!!…………….cute patterns and wonderful Aurifil
threads, what fun this is thank-you
Well, whenever a new season starts, I feel like it’s my favorite ;) I think it’s that transition time that I love the most! But perhaps fall. There’s this ‘back-to-real-life’ feeling that I actually find comforting after the crazy/busy/fun summer months.
My favorite season has always been fall—I love the colors, the temps, the smells, the activities. BUT, now that I garden, I have to say spring/summer is also my favorite. I love planning in the winter, planting in the spring, caring for it in the summer and harvesting in the summer/fall. I love all the seasons! We just had a blizzard here in Ohio—3-4ft drifts out there—-I love winter!
I love winter….quilt weather!
Love Stars, thank you for sharing.
Spring – budding flowers, singing birds, blue skies, spring rain – what’s not to love about spring.
Definatelyyyy Spring! The first pleasant weather after a longgggg winter ” all the flowers are popping up the birds are singing, the squirrels are playing I love it!
I love the fall with its crisp feeling in the air.
I love them all!!
Spring-it’s a time of rebirth from the Winter’s period of rest…Summer-because it’s the last Hoorah!, Fall, because it’s time to prepare for that long winter’s rest and regeneration…
I love Spring, so fresh and pretty! Aurifil is my favorite thread for piecing, I have yet to try it for quilting. Must do that next time!
Love Autumn sweeps away the heat of summer so crisp and cool. Irresistable.
To me it has to be all four. Why? When it’s winter and cold you are longing for warmer weather. When spring has arrieved you long for the days when you can take a swim or walk barefooted in green grass. But somehow you start to long for some cooler days and fall comes along. After a while you are tired of dark, wet windy days and long for the first snow to brighten up your days again. Since I live in Norway, there’s no Christmas without snow. So you see, I just can’t pick just one season. I love them all :)
I haven’t yet uses these threads, but everyone is certainly talking about them, I will have to try them out
I have a hard time picking one season as a favorite too. I seem to always like whatever the NEXT season will be so right now, that would be Spring! Love your block for the Aurifil Hop.
I actually have 2 favorite seasons…..Spring and Fall. Thanks for the great giveaway!
spring when color returns and the suns warmth goes to your soul.
I love Fall, here in the Northwest we get distinctive seasons and the Fall has cool crisp nights, beautiful colors and days ranging from hot to crisp but sunny. It’s all good in my book.
I love autumn, when the air starts getting cooler and the trees start changing colour. It’s a welcome relief after our hot summers here in Australia.
I love Aurifil threads for quilting, they shimmer and look so great on a quilt top.
I Love Spring as some colour comes back into the garden Its not too hot and everything is full of energy …. even me ! The pretty aurifill colours remnind me of spring
I Love Spring. The air is fresh with the smell of flowers, and sound of birds singing.
I read the name of your block, had to look twice at it, the star really is hidden.
Summer is mine… to da beach!
yeahhhh they got your site fixed, didn’t want to miss out on the giveaway and I need to vote too… thanks for a chance to win some neat threads.
Hi
Since I practically have ‘summer’ all year round here…the other season that I love most is Spring and Autumn… this is the time I could see the bloom or colours all around…..
Thank you for your block
Leena
My Birthday is January… I’m a winter girl… Luvin the cold and wind and snow. Blessed that I usually don’t drive in the mess. Grandkids know I’ll build a snowman with them and tromp around outside…. Their parents just bring-em over!
Happy to hop with you!
Spring is my favorite of all – the flowers waking up, the birds returning, and best of all – I can sit out on my back porch in the morning with my coffee and watch it all!!
Spring and fall are my favorite. I don’t like it too hot or too cold. Just love the plants beginning to push through the earth in spring and the leaves in fall.
Thanks for the block and a chance to win some wonderful thread.
With all the snow this winter spring has got to be my choice. Craving fresh greens and blossoms and no more snow to shovel or drive through. Cute block .Thank you.
A fun and fast block. It is sooooo cute. I definitely reminds me of spring. I love spring also, just seeing all the green plants and flowers is so cheerful.
I love spring when colors are starting to come alive. I love color

Love summer, warm, and fresh, full of colors, and sunshine
Summer is my favourite season because of the long days and sunshine and my birthday is in July.
Fall is my favorite season. Here in New England the trees are so colorful I think Auriful uses them for their color schemes.
I would have to say that summer is my favorite. My girls play outside all day and are so tired out that bedtimes are easy. I also love days at the pool!
I love summer when everything so alive and growing it always gives me hope.
My favorite season is summer. When the weather is warm and I can enjoy the outdoors. Tired of the snowy winter. Just snowed 10 more inches today. Tired of shovelling and driving on bad roads.
I love the greens of Spring – the willows as they begin to bud, the first blades of grass, the delicate spikes of crocus peeking up through the snow – and the promise of warmer weather to come.
Thanks for the giveaway.
Lots of cute patterns and plenty of talk about Aurifil threads. Now to see how this quilts up.
I love the spring time when all the flowers are blooming. They are so pretty and add so much color after a long cold winter.
The colors of Autumn are my favorite-it’s my favorite time of year!
I love Autumn with it’s harvest festival and the fiery colours of the trees!
Thanks for the opportunity to win Aurifil threads :)
I love Spring–and right now I need Spring! The groundhog didn’t see his shadow, so where is the early Spring??? We have had the snowest January in history–a true record!
I love the smell of Spring, the flowers and the sound of peepers, (the baby frogs that come out every Spring).
Thank you so much for the opportunity to win Aurifil thread!
I love fall. The approach of the holiday season and a quilter pace for a painter!
