Welcome everyone to this week’s star block lesson for the Delightful Stars Quilt-Along (DS QAL). This week’s lesson is Block #2:
This week’s construction tip has to do with joining the flying geese units so that the middle point is accurate. In the photo below, notice where my stitching line is on the back of one of my flying geese units, when I’m attaching it to the centre piece. It’s a couple of threads away from the intersection formed when the FG units come together.
This way, when I press the seam, that triangle tip will be as close to perfect as I can get it. Those extra two threads away, account for the thread width and the seam fold. You may need to experiment with this based on your fabric thickness, thread width and pressing preference.

Downloading the DS QAL File
If you used my Add to Cart option to purchase the QAL, an email update notice was sent earlier this evening to your PayPal email address. The subject will say “Update for 2014 Delightful Stars Quilt-Along” .. and inside the message is “Download file: View Purchase Online”. When you click that “View Purchase Online” link, your web browser will open and you will have a screen that looks similar to the one below with the Big Blue Download button. Click that button and save the file to your computer’s hard drive.
If you joined the QAL through Craftsy, visit the pattern page to download the latest version. You may need to login first so they don’t ask you to pay again.
Remember: If you miss downloading a file for the quilt-along. No worries, just download the latest file and you’ll be good to go. Each new file replaces the previous file. Refer to the change log contained in the file for info on the latest updates.
