How did you get into quilting?
My mother taught me to sew when I was 7 but I didn’t get into quilting until 5 years ago. I just decided that I wanted to make a quilt and so I did. I gave my first quilt to my grandmother for Christmas. Would you believe I never took a single picture?
How/when/why did you transition from a quilter to a designer?
I’ve been designing patterns for about 3 years now. I love to challenge myself and try new things even though it does make me a little crazy at times. I don’t have much patience when things don’t work out the way I want the first time. Sometimes I give up but I usually keep at it until I figure it out.
Which quilt is your favourite? Did you design it? Why is it your favourite?
My favorite quilt has to be the quilt I made for my dad a couple years ago. The design is based on a quilt my grandmother {his mother} made for me in 1978. I was able to create an airplane template from my quilt and I used it to make his quilt. I used lots of bright batiks mixed with denim from old blue jeans. The best part…the blue jeans that I used in the quilt belonged to myself, my kids, my husband and my dad. Needless to say, he loved it.

How many UFOs do you currently have? I really can’t count that high…I don’t have enough fingers & toes!
What size of quilt do you prefer to make/design? (e.g. table runners, lap quilts, bed quilts, etc.) I really like lap size quilts because they are quicker to finish and more of an instant gratification.
What colour do you use most often in your quilts? I don’t really gravitate to one color. But I do love bright colors.
Favourite one-sentence tip for a new quilter: Don’t be scared and know there’s always more than one way to do things!
Favourite size and brand of rotary cutter: 45mm Martelli
Favourite quote or mantra: Let it go!
