Seeing Red (the house isn't selling!) Seeing Red (the house isn’t selling!)
By: Debbie, Illinois, USA

I made this log cabin quilt the summer we had our house on the market. It wasn’t selling and my husband wasn’t home and I was so wound up that I sewed another log cabin quilt as well! It was very mindless sewing but I am happy with the outcome…and the house finally did sell.

Shangri log cabin Shangri log cabin
By: Tammy Murphy, Ontario, Canada

My very first quilt was a Colorado Log Cabin, I made it when I was 19 yrs old. A few years later it was lost in a move and I still miss that quilt to this day. It wasn’t a pretty quilt but it was my first.
When I saw jelly rolls of this fabric (shangri-la by moda) I had to “recreate” my long cabin!

Southwestern Geese and Logs Southwestern Geese and Logs
By: Kathy Fey, Texas, USA

I saw this quilt as a photo in Quiltmania. I have an oil painting in my room of Egyptian gods – man and woman that has all these colors. It was a great challenge as I’m a fairly new quilter. Won’t do one this large any time soon – it will be my bedspread.

Summer Wheat Summer Wheat
By: CathyW, United Kingdom

A fairly typical two-tone log cabin, with the traditional red centre square. The random scattering of extra red squares happened when I joined together strips cut from fat quarters!
Your eyes are not deceiving you – the yellow strips are finished width 1″, while the blue strips are 1.25″.

The Christmas Star The Christmas Star
By: Monique, Montana, USA

The Road Less Traveled The Road Less Traveled
By: Marty Mason, Louisiana, USA

I enjoy using scraps from completed projects so the size of my mini log cabin quilt was determined by the amount of fabric that remained from a large quilt. It took some doing to find a pleasing layout with so few blocks, but I finally decided I liked the meandering “road”. It is less traveled!

The Thirteenth Fandango The Thirteenth Fandango
By: k3n, United Kingdom

My own original design, regular piecing, foundation paper piecing and machine applique. FMQ freehand on my Janome 6600. The name comes from it being the 13th version I designed and that at one stage, a friend pointed out that the twisted corners looked like ‘fangs’ – so it became ‘Fandango’!

Trees for the Forest Trees for the Forest
By: Jill Stemple, North Carolina, USA

I made this quilt on behalf of my friend April for her daughters 16th birthday because April, who is currently in solitary confinement, was unable to get her daughter a present. I wanted a modern quilt that was young and fun and I needed to make it pretty quickly, so I went with a log cabin.

Quilt size: width: 66" height: 76"

Zebra Logs Zebra Logs
By: Jessica Mirasol, Virginia, USA

This is the first quilt I ever made. My 9-year-old daughter wanted to decorate her room using purple and zebra print. I decided to go with a quilt that was still a traditional pattern, but let her update it with the fabrics. She chose them all herself and they suit her perfectly!

Oh my, so many gorgeous quilts to choose from this week! I’m so glad we can pick five — still not enough though. LOL! I don’t see a link for the slider thingie to view the quilts. I’m sorry that’s not working like you want it to — I *really* liked scrolling through the quilts that way. Thank you so much for continuing to do this every week, and GOOD LUCK to all this week’s participants! Log Cabin blocks are so incredibly versatile, and as evidenced by this week’s entries, makes some GORGEOUS quilts! :)

I have voted for five, wish I could give everyone a vote, yes I know that would be sily, but hey, everyone, your quilt is fabulous.
Good luck to all, and thank you for doing this each week for us, we get to see wonderful stuff on here.
