Carol Doak, the Queen of paper piecing in my mind, has some wonderful free patterns on her web site. The pattern in the photo is called May Flower. Carol has a blog too, Carol Doak’s Corner.
From De Quiltkat here is their 2007 BOM project, Vintage Quilt. The Vintage Quilt has 12 foundation-pieced block patterns measuring 6 inches square. The finished quilt measures 36″ x 45″.
If you hate paper piecing, or even if you don’t, here’s a great technique to try, Freezer Paper Piecing.
From Quiltmaker, comes this very fun pattern, Just Bugs. This charming little quilt, features a bevy of bugs and other little creatures, and is easy to make with foundation piecing and fusible patches. Sew down the raw edges with a buttonhole stitch and draw the tiny legs and antennae with a permanent-ink fabric pen.
From Quiltmaker, 24 free foundation pieced patterns. Each pattern given creates an 8-inch block, but you can re-size as needed. Excellent instructions, full-sized patterns, and samples if you decide to repeat one block. My favourite block is Hosannah, as it looks like tulips, which are one of my favourite flowers. What’s yours?
Imagine the creativity and fun that can be had with this free pattern, Kitties with 3-D Tails. I have lots of ribbons and cording that would make great Kitty Tails.
Here’s a fun lap quilt project from McCall’s Quick Quilts, Crazy Anne. I think if I stared at this long enough, I just might get dizzy. Would look stunning with a black background and bright coloured fabrics. It’s paper-pieced which I love for accuracy.
