Sew Sweet Simplicity BOM and a Give-Away

A-BlockOfTheMonth

This FREE Block of the Month will run 5 months – not too long, not too short – just right! Why is it called Sew Sweet Simplicity? Because the blocks look way more complicated than they are!

B-Jacquelynne Steves Free Block of the Month

When I designed this project, I wanted to provide you with lots of options. So, you can do a 4 block quilt, or, if you have a little more time you can make a 6 block quilt.

C-SewSweetSimplicityBOM

And, you will have 3 different options for making your blocks:

  • you can just piece them
  • OR you can applique them (hand or machine – I did machine applique)
  • OR you can do simple hand embroidery (just 2 super easy stitches – the backstitch and French knots – plus I have a YouTube tutorial for those stitches)

There will also be a blog hop each month, so you can see how different bloggers made their quilt – different fabrics, perhaps different settings and borders… So be prepared to be inspired. Oh, and of course, you can’t have a blog hop without fun prizes and giveaways!!!

    My sisters and I are planning and working on a surprise quilt four our Mom for Christmas, even my sister who will not sew is participating by embroidering a block for the center. It should be fun! I plan to save some of the scraps and make surprise mini quilts for my sisters too.

    I will be making wrist pin cushions for my quilting friends but i devoured into making homemade olives this year for my general gift. They turned out great and I digitized a topper that is “Olive U” (like I love you), it is an olive with a heart as a pit then a “U” so I am machine embroidering a bunch of those. Love your studio video!

    I have’t yet decided what my Christmas projects will be. My daughter graduates from university, so a t-shirt quilt is definately on the list. A holiday mystery quilt will be in the works as well as a Prairie Women’s Sewing Circle project.

    I’ve done a couple of tree skirts and am now using the left-over fabric to make patchwork pot holders. Once I get a stack of them, I think I’ll do a few Amish star pot holders in Christmas colors. Then, if I still have fabric, maybe some place mats.

    I will be busy in the next few months. I am finishing a quilt for my new granddaughter; a friend wants me to make a quilt as a Christmas gift for her new granddaughter; plus I want to make 2 quilts for my two grandchildren who are 7 and 9. They want “warm” quilts–ones with flannel backing; I haven’t made them with flannel backings before on the several quilts they already have and they are getting taller (ages 7 and 9) and they want bigger quilts too. Fortunately, I have all the fabric so I just have to get busy.

    I’m trying to get a quilt done for my son! He always seems to be forgotten and put on the back burner and he’s so supportive of my quilting and helpful! We live in a town without a fabric store he’s so good about stopping at JoAnn’s after visiting his girlfriend in a nearby town and picking up fabric for me! He will even send me pics to make sure he gets the fabric I’m looking for! How many sons would do this!!!

    I’m going to finish the quilted placemats I started last Christmas.
    I never finished them, as on the 3rd of December last year, my son was involved in a Motorcycle accident.
    He spent the next two months in hospital, and has only just gone back to work.
    In all he had 9 months off work, and will have ongoing problems with his elbow.

    A Hugs n Kisses for Autism quilt, a HST star quilt from the extra HST cut off from the Hugs n Kisses, a Swoon quilt, a Liberty Star wall hanging, and a firefighter quilt for my husband. I want to get the crib quilt stars done for my baby for Cheustmas or his first birthday in January.

    I am making wall hangings for my three sisters this year. One is very special because one sister’s husband died on their anniversary this year and I “lifted” several of his shirts without her knowledge and am making a Cross log cabin wall hanging using his shirts for hers. I’m sure it will be an emotional gift for all of us.

    I made a quilt for my really good friend who has hosted our book club since 1997. I included all the names of the members and their favorite books. I also am working on finishing a patriotic quilt for my cousin and her husband. He is 95 years old, served in the Pacific theater in WWII and is still a Marine through and through. These quilts are both Christmas gifts this year.

    I’m making a Christmas batik quilt, and a few table runners for gifts. I usually make pajamas for the family gifts, but my son is getting a lap quilt, too, if I get it finished. I love Jacquelynne’s designs.

    I will be finishing the 16 placemats that I started for last Christmas.
    They never got finished as my son had a motorcycle accident in December, and spent 2 months in hospital.
    We spent Christmas Day at the hospital and had no use for them.
    This Christmas will be extra special as both my children will be there
