I mostly use neutral colors and sometimes brown and verigated. thank you for the great inspirations and fun 🙂
I like using varigated threads or bright contrasting threads.
I use a neutral thread color.
I use mostly a beige….it seem to blend best and don’t have to change thread often….and I use Aurifil for all my sewing!!
I use a lot of medium to dark gray. It blends with almost everything.
I started out with gray, then white and sometimes beige.
This was a tough one! I love scrappy quilts! I use mostly neutral Aurifil threads in tans & greys, but I love all of the beautiful colors also.
I use mainly ecru and white
I mostly use neutrals for piecing, but love variegated for quilting.
Aurifil 2000 – the perfect beige!
For piecing I use a lot of gray. For quilting I like variegated colors or light beige.
I mostly use either white or cream to quilt with. These threads are beautiful!
I use a lot of an off white / neutral color thread . then I try to match the binding color when sewing that on ! thanks ! ( oops sent the 1st comment with fb ; )
Because I love traditional quilting with white backgrounds, I use mostly white. But like all quilters I’ve a rainbow selection! Thanks for the chance to win and good luck to all that entered the contest this week!
For piecing my quilts I use a neutral color unless the fabric is white or black. Then I use the appropriate color. When I long-arm quilt my quilts, I will use a neutral, matching or variegated thread all depending on the colors and pattern. I sometimes will use multiple colors when I am custom quilting a quilt.
For piecing I use neutrals. I also like variegated threads for quilting.
I typically use neutrals – cream, beige and grey for piecing, but love the variegated for quilting. Thanks for the opportunity on the draw.
I piece with white or cream. I quilt with white and because I make a lot of fall items I use oranges and greens too. I also LOVE variegated thread.
I am a very boring quilter LOL I only have used beige or white. Would love to broaden my experience.
I use mostly a natural thread colour – it depends on what I’m making. Try to match the thread with the quilt I make so it depends on that most of the time 🙂
Have a great week end.
It’s a toss-up between beige and grey for piecing and love the variegated for stippling.
I love all thread colors and would use any color suitable for the quilt!
I love Aurifil thread and use it for general sewing and applique. Though I have many colors (I try to always buy a new color when I visit the quilt shop), I use white and beige the most. Thanks for the chance to win!
For Longarm quilting – Pure White, Cream and then Light Olive. For piecing a neutral like off white.
I use a rainbow of colors, but probably the most yards used are tan. Love those Aurifil threads.
Hi! Mostly I use cream and white; but love introducing color whenever I can! Thanks for sharing!
I find I use lilac and white the most when quilting
Wow! This was difficult. What wonderful quilts!
Neutrals. My favorite is a tan/greenish thread that seems to blend with virtually everything except perhaps white or black fabrics.
I’d say that 95%of the timeit’s cream and white with the rest various colors.
I use a light grey the most – and I always have extra Aurifil on hand!
I use tan & white when needed.
Thanks for the chance to win : )
I use yellow thread the most.
I usually use cream tones, but I find when I work on my art quilts variegated threads come into play.
I use whatever color matches the fabric to machine piece my quilts. I’ve only used white thread to hand quilt with.
I love their thread! I’ve only used the solids but would love to try the variegated!
These quilts are all fabulous but my favorite is the Majestic Garden QOV quilt. I have such a passion for the soldiers who sacrifice so much.
I use the beige…or white…threads most all the time. Pretty new to quilting…so tend to go “safe”….lol DO loooove all the colors tho, ‘specially varigated! Just haven’t been brave enough…Yet! lol….to try them. 🙂
Oooh, I love Aurifil! Thanks for the giveaway!
Mostly I just use a beige or a light gray thread in all my piecing.
I think I end up using black more than any other single color, but I use a whole variety.
I use cream-beige mostly for piecing and it can be found in lots of quilted projects as well.
I use off white the most. Darker fabrics I lean toward gray. AuriFil threads are my favorite brand to sew with. Thanks sew much for this chance to win!
I use cream/off-white most often. Thanks!
Invisible thread is what I often use. If I can not find a good match because of so many colors in the quilt I have been known to use the monofilament thread for top, bottom or both quilting threads. I do like to try to match the thread to the quilt as much as possible though.
Black for piecing and whatever is closest to the quilt color for the quilting. I need to venture out and try something else.
Variegated thread is my new all time favorite!
I uses mainly neutrals, since I mainly piece, not machine quilt. I also love variegated threads. They are sew much fun!

I just love thread! I use a lot of pretty variegated threads.
When I do quilt by hand, I prefer to use a light color that blends. I haven’t had the courage to use contrasting thread!
For piecing I use a cream color; for quilting it varies depending on the colors in the quilt.
I use a light ecru/cream color for most piecing and free motion.
I use cream the most, have never used Aurafil, just recently bought a new machine that doesn’t like my less than steller threads, how does this thread sew up? Need to replace all my thread I fear.
I am just starting into machine quilting. I love the reds and oranges, but will use whatever strikes me at the moment for what the quilt is crying out for. : )
The most I use when quilting is white, because it blends in most of the time.
Thanks for this great giveaway!! 🙂
I almost always use white, usually because I’m too lazy switching the thread to a different color 🙂 Many thanks for the great giveaway!
White is used most frequently when I am piecing.
All lovely quilts. I voted. I use mostly wheat colored thread for quilting.
I like to quilt with a thread that disappears in the quilt, so, the thread color is different all the time. but, when I piece, I typically use a light beige or darker for darker prints.
I use mostly beighe and silver thread in my quilting.
Lately I have been using Aurafil 2370 with my scrappy quilts it blends well.

I mainly use a very light cream thread. Thanks for the sweet giveaway 🙂
Believe it or not, I use a bright lime green quite often. It works great with lots of quilts. Thanks for the chance!
I use a muslin light cream color alot. It really depends on the quilt and backing what color I use.
I’ve used a lot of bright orange – really adds a fun touch of color to a scrappy quilt!
Whichever one matches my quilt! That’s almost always a variegated thread. I guess I’ve been going through the brown/beige/cream variegated threads pretty rapidly lately, believe it or not!
I tend to use a light cream or beige for quilting! 🙂
I use gray and taupe for most piecing and use coordinating threads for quilting.
I use LOTS of Aurifils!!
It seems that the most frequently used one, when I want to blend-in is the sage green/gray-ish one (it just blends with so many different colors!) and when I want a contrast, it is a bright, lime green one! 🙂
I use Aurifil in light or dark greys to piece, and use all colors of Aurifil for free motion quilting. I love it! I would love to win the variegated thread set and use it for quilting.
cream or grey always. maybe when my stitching is more even I’ll try some colors
Cream is my go-to color for piecing & hand-quilting. Thank you for a lovely giveaway!!
I use LOTS of Aurifils!
It seems that the most frequent one is, when I want to blend-in, the sage green/gray-ish color (it just blends with so many colors!) and when I want contrast – bright, lime green! 🙂

Off-white is my usual colour for piecing, but I go colourful for quilting.
I usually use a light tan, grey or cream color
I’m using mostly cream at the moment but that does change from quilt to quilt.
I use cream thread the most, but love the variegated ones too.
I use greige for peicing, and whatever colour the quilt needs for the quilting (black, purple, variegated red, lavender are from my last four quilts).
I’ve decided to use light tan from now on. The last time I tried to match my quilt, I had a difficult time seeing where I was going and where I had been! That will change if I make a light tan quilt.
The thread color I use most for quilting is a natural or cream color. It goes with most light backgrounds.
I use taupe the most.
SewCalGal
http://www.sewcalgal.blogspot.com
I coordinate my thread with the colors of my quilt although I want to try using a variegated thread on my next one.
I use Aurifil Mako in a light grey or cream for most of my quilting.
Lately I seem to be using a lot of red believe it or not!
Casi todos mis trabajos los acolcho con color beig, anteriormente lo hacía siempre a mano, ahora la mayoría lo hago a máquina
I use Aurofils goldish color thread. It blends into every color so nicely.
I seem to be using a lot of blue in my quilting. Off white is a close second.
I use a lot of a warm neutral beige for piecing. Aurifil is my favorite kind of thread for this.
I tend to use blues or related colors when quilting–red or gold on holiday designs.
I use whites for piecing but for quilting I like to use variegated they blend well, the specific colors change with each quilt. If I had to pick the color I use most it would be a tie between blue and green!
I have never tried your threads but sure would like to. I do sewing everyday and sure could use something new.
I use a variety of colors as I like to make bright quilts.
Thanks
I find i use mostly blues. From pale blue to a deep purple blue.
For the actual quilting, I use a lot of variegated lime green thread — it’s amazing how many things look good with lime green! For piecing I generally use a pale grey.
I use cream or beige most of the time.
What thread colour? Boring natural cream color I would have to say 🙁
Perhaps if I win, my color palette will enlarge 🙂
Happy Quilting everyone!!
I use a medium ecru for most piecing unless I’m working on lots of very dark colors, then I use a dark grey. Thanks so much for a chance to win some of these beautiful Aurifil threads, my friends have raved about it and I have wanted to try it for a very long time.
Usually gray or black for Dark colors and tan and beige for light. I also like all variegated colors. . So I guess you could say I love them all
Right now I’m using a lot of ecru. Thanks for the giveaway!
I use mostly light grey for piecing – and lately have been loving Aurifil variegated in all sorts of combinations for my quilting.
I use light gray or cream color thread for most piecing. I like my quilting lines to pop so the color depends on the quilt. The Aurifil kits in your giveaway look yummy!
I mostly use solid ecru or pastel variegateds. For Christmas quilts I use red/green/gold variegated.
Lately it’s been cream! I used up 2 spools this year already! They were started last year, but are now empty.
I use light or dark grey for piecing and variegated mostly for quilting.
Thanks for the chance to win and all the quilts are so lovely it was very hard to choose this week.
I am SO impressed by all the quilts this week! I mean to make a scrappy quilt one day soon. I treasure the double wedding ring pieced by my maternal grandmother from scraps left over from making feed sack dresses for my 2 aunts.
I use Cream, Grey and Black thread for all my piecing. I love this thread!
Great quilts! Glad I could choose a few faves. 🙂
Thread colour? Depends on the project……but I adore using Aurifil thread….no matter what the colour, solid or variegated…..it is the BEST.
Rather boringly, I use grey thread for both piecing and quilting most of the time. Am going to try making mini art quilts soon and hope to use lots of colors!
Such a variety this time! I found something to like about them all.
I most use an off white I do alot of piecing and had to change thread so the off white works for me.
I mostly use white. How boring! Mind you, right now I’m using some lovely variegated Aurifil on a quilt, and it’s so pretty that I keep adding quilting. And, I’m quilting this by hand, and I still can’t get enough of this beautiful colour.
I use an off-white or light tan when I want a neutral. Otherwise, I like variegated threads. I have used a lot of orange and purple, too. Well, I guess it depends on the project. All colors are beautiful!
Taupe, taupe and more taupe – with a little gray once in a while!!
All of the quilts are awesome. It’s always so difficult to chose. I generally piece with taupe or gray and like to use variegated for quilting.
I do more piecework than quilting but when I do quilt it’s usually old traditional white, off white, beige. Since I am looking at some art quilt ideas to try I could use some colors.
Sew the pieces always use cotton yarn fabric color one, for padding in this case with maroon embroidery thread
Just about the only color I use for piecing is Aurifil #2605, which is a nice, neutral grey. I go through spools of it!
Love Love Love all of these scrappy happy quilts
I make colorful quilts, so I use red, yellow, pink, green, blue….or any color to match the fabric!
I just used some Aurifil thread recently and it sews like a dream. These quilts are all beautiful!
I like using all sorts of colors when quilting – piecing it depends – cream for lights, gray for darks.
Beautiful quilts!
I love multicolored tread.
I use the white Aurifil in the orange spool or Coats in white or off white to piece with. I have just used some perle for handstitching. Those are some yummy Aurifil sets you have there!!
I usually use white the most. thanks for the chance!
I try to match threads if I can. If I don’t have a certain colour, I tend to use a light grey.
for hand & machine quilting I mainly use a light tan thread for multicoloured scrappy quilts, for quilts containing a dominant colour I will match the thread to the main colour
I don’t have a common quilting color. I tend to try and use a matching color…it means I get to buy more thread!
I use a grey or cream for piecing. When doing the quilting, I try to match my thread to the fabrics, so I tend to change colors quite a bit as I do each block!
I use white thread the most when making the quilt but when I start embroidering the quilt I would say that various shades of pink are my most common color.
I’ve never had the pleasure of using Aurifil threads but would love to try them.
White…lol…I am so boring…Piecing I always use whit. So that is where i use the most thread at. conn_and_vans_mom(at)yahoo(dot)com
I love blue and green fabrics so I think I use these colored threads the most. 🙂
I try to chose color co-ordinated thread to in some spaces belend in with the fabric and in other areas to make my design stand out, variegated threads are my favorite, thank you for an opportunity to replenish my thread should I be a lucky winner….
I mostly use grey for piecing, so that is the color that gets used the most around here. Of course I use all colors in my applique and quilting so they all eventually get used somewhat.
I love pinks, so most of my quilting is done with pink thread. Also used blues and purples. Love aurifil threads.
I tend to use white/ecru/grey for piecing but for quilting I love using varieagated and metallic threads as well as the full spectrum of colour—–sometimes to match background and sometimes as a contrast.
I love pink,so most of my quilts are done in pink, but some with blue and purple. Love aurifil threads.
I love blue thread when I quilt. Thanks for the giveaway.
Mostly light grey – ecru. But I also like to use a colour that goes with the fabrics; either a shade of one fabric or one “opposite” color to really stand out. It all depends on the fabric colors as well as the pattern.
I would be thrilled to try different color threads. The few quilts I have done have all been done with white. Thanks very much.
I mostly use cream for piecing. I have been quilting with some varigated threads lately. Would love to win some of
the Aurifil thread! Thanks for the chance to win!
I usually use white and light gray and sometimes an antique ecru type color.
I quilt with whatever matches most–that varies by quilt.
White or ecru so far, but I’d like to get colorful!
I mostly piece with light grays and creams. Would love ♥ to win these. Please pick me!!!
I use Aurafil cream, tan or grey for piecing. Love it. Lately, I’ve been using a lot of variegated greens for quilting because they go so well with the purple I use in most of my quilts. My other go-to colors for quilting are purples, blues and yellows.
I use light gray, light blue, white, light yellow and beige a lot.
I’d love to receive the prize! Thanks!
To piece: I usually use white, cream, grey or black.
To quilt: I use anything and everything. Sometimes it matches, sometimes it’s completely different to stand out.
I use grey/cream for piecing, When I quilt it depends on the quilt top I love to use variegated threads. Our local shop sells Aurafil so I use it a lot.
I make and quilt charity quilts a lot. We use Walmart’s brand twin flat sheets, take the seams out, and cut the sheet in half. The half will serve as a backing for a quilt. We go through blue backings as the most popular color. So it’s shades of blue we use the most. It would be a wonderful blessing to receive one of your packages of great Aurifil threads.
I piece with gray and cream and quilt with whatever works best for the particular quilt. Really like Aurofill – thank you for the give-away!
I try to match when I do the quilting.
My colour for quilting is beig,of course .
I most often piece with gray and I probably most often use light colors for quilting.
i typically use a cream colored thread in my quilting. I find that white shows too much and the cream tends to blend in with more fabrics.
Depends on the piece being quilted. I use colors that blend, colors that contrast, or colors that complement the piece I am quilting.
I use gray or beige.
I love to use neutrals…warm and cool shades that go with everything. Makes life easier for me.
I probably use orange more often than other colours, though a dark beige sees frequent use as well.

I tend to play it safe with the neutrals.
I use a netural gray most often for the piecing. For quilting, it varies depending on the quilt.
I use beige and gray for piecing and white a lot for quilting.
I would say I use off white thread the most in my quilting with light grey a close second. I love voting each week – so fun to see everyone’s creations – thanks so much for organizing it.
I love all the colors of threads, just like a rainbow of creativity!
My favorite quilt thread color is a soft green, you can use it for almost everything!
I usually use white or cream, but I would love to expand my creatively and am dying to try aurifil threads!
For machine piecing I use a cream color for light colors, gray for dark colors. For machine quilting I like to use a neutral or a varigated thread. For hand quilting I use either a neutral or black. Love Aurifil threads. Hugs
I use grey most in my quilting 🙂
ourbusylittlebunch(at)hotmail(dot)com
I use off-white, and then light, medium, and dark grey thread most often when I’m piecing.
I use thread colour to match my project so it might be any colour.
I am learning to quilting. Unfortunately, even I can’t correctly define the color of the thread that I use in quilts. Precisely, today I’m unsewing all the quilting I did on an edge, since by the poor choice of color, quilting design is not appreciated.
I use a tan earth tone color thread for a lot of my quilting.
I use a cream or gray thread spool the most.
White and beige are the colors I have used most. But I love the pop that colorful quilting threads provide.
I use aa off white or a cream color. If piecing a scrappy I just use whatever is on the bobbin.
I use gray thread the most. I do mostly scrappy stuff and gray seems to blend in the best to me.
Well, if you are talking about actual quilting, not piecing, then I’d have to go with blue.
I use a lot of black and grey & beige for piecing. But, for the quilting lots of colors! And of course, it’s always Aurifil!
Sadly I pretty much use white as I find it hard to spend money when I don’t know what colours I would need the most
i use mostly light grey or beige…unless its dark then black of course
I use a lot of beige, grey and soft green… They all play nice with other colours…
I love to use variegated threads. Usually I will coordinate th overall color of he variegated thread to the quilt colors, but I love having the subtle color change in the quilted design.
I usually use white or an off white when I sew quilts. If the quilt I am working on has dark colors I use grey.a
I use the color to match the quilt, when piecing and quilting, I love the different threads!

ABreading4fun [at] gmail [dot] com
I would use a cream/beige more than any other colour, mainly because I love reproduction quilts and this colour blends in very well.

I love Aurifil thread for piecing and for machine quilting! Would love to win the thread and try out some of the other colors! Thank you for the chance!

I like light or med grey for piecing but quilting depends on the quilt.
I find that cream, beige and grey are the most subtle colours for piecing but “anything goes” when it comes to quilting. It all depends on the theme.
I use off-white and grey most often.
I find that I use varying shades of grey, as it blends better than anything else when I’m piecing. For hand quilting, I will match to the background fabric or to the backing, if I’m doing a scrappy quilt. And, I will admit it, I’m a “traditional” quilter and prefer my backing fabric to be muslin–bleached or unbleached doesn’t matter, so usually I use a white or beige for my quilting threads.
Suddenly the quilt speaks, I always listen which color to use, thanks for this give away
I use beige or cream the most.
I use off white or cream the most.
My Most used colours are the neutral shades for piecing. Having said that I love all those glorious colours which are perfect for applique. Aurifil has a thread for all situation. Wonderful giveaway. As a lover of your thread for me it would be the perfect prize.

Actually, I haven’t tried Aurifil, but want to!
I try to use a color that matches the fabric so that my not so perfect quilting mistakes don’t look too bad.
I use a beige coloured Egyptian cotton to piece all my quilts. Recently I used white and periwinkle blue polyester threads to quilt my last quilt.

I use Aurifil’s greys a lot
I use variegated as often as possible sometimes it is that little extra punch the quilt needs!!
I am a beginning quilter, with only a few projects completed so far. So far I have been using mostly cream colored thread.
I use Reds, blacks and gray a lot. Love variegated threads too! I use Gutterman threads!
I use white thread the most in my quilting.
I probably use a tan thread most often.
I use threads in all colors – just depends on what project I’m working on. This last quilt I quilted with red for some and black for another portion… While piecing i really don’t pay attention to the thread color unless I’m piecing with light colored fabrics – then I use light colored thread…definitely learned my lesson on that one!
I use tan or gray to piece. It kind of blends with most of what I do.
Lately, I’ve been using lots of aurifil white. Usually I use lots of shades of greens and blues.

I’m rather boring–I still prefer white when I am quilting most of the time.
I use white the most or grey
Off white cream the most but love to use variegated on some projects

I love aurifil thread. I piece my quilts with a light gray or beige if light and black if dark. I quilt with a varigated or matching color most of the time. Thanks for a great giveaway.
I use neutrals and blacks lately but am using some hot pink and bright yellow.
I will quilt with whatever is needed to make the design of the quilt POP. I prefer to use a variegated thread in my scrap quilts to help make the over-all look more “scrappy”.
For piecing I mostly use grey or beige. For quilting I use something that goes with the fabric. Variegated threads are a lot of fun to use but solids have their place too!
i use white most often – or match the color of the fabric .. which lately has been mostly blues.
I use any cotton thread that is available locally in my small town in India. I use white or cream colour for piecing and for quilting I use whichever colour that goes well with the quilt top.
I use beige or gray for piecing, usually beige. I match my quilting thread to the back and top, depending on the colors in the quilt.
grey or off-white!
I use all colours of THE rainbow, but I seem to use à lot of dark blue, because I have to buy new spools all THE time
I use a lot of taupe, quite a light colour and goes with most fabrics!

Lots of gray lately. Also white.
I love to use variegated threads to add depth to the quilting!
As a quilter I need a lot of threads. It’s always on my wishlist for Christmas.
I use Aurifil light gray and off white a lot.
I use a color that compliments the main color of the quilt top, but I find myself using red the most.
I use purple a lot but love all colours especially the multi colours
The thread color I use most in my quilting is a light tan or beige for piecing and sometimes for the quilting. But usually for the quilting I enjoy using variegated threads.
White. I love how it looks on white and I use a lot of white in my quiilting.
For piecing I mainly use a taupe colour, for quilting I am using ” linen” at the moment, the colour depends on what colours are in the quilt.
hope l win 🙂
For piecing, I usually use light beige or grey, for quilting, I try to use whatever color will not fight with quilt, unless I really want the quilting to show to make a statement.
l like to use bleached white backgrounds with bright vibrant colors and l love to add hand embroidery and thread art to my quilts. the white deffinetly makes it stand out. black works the same way…opposite ofcourse, but it adds interest
I love to use the variegated threads when ever possible. Otherwise there is no one color in particular as I like to choose one that best compliments my quilt top.
The color i have been using the most lately is cream & red!!
Color I use the most is a deep taupe color. Many of my projects are the rich country colors and this color works the best for sewing and quilting! Thanks for the giveaway and good luck to all!
I mostly use an-off white color like linen or ivory, but the color I use certainly varies to fit the project.
I love to use multicolored for quilting, or a shiny but thin white!
These are really some pretty colors. Love them all 🙂
Petsonally, I generally use variegated threads, both rayon and metallic. However, I quilt for others and find that the extent of most people runs to ecru, beige, and tan. I vote for imagination!
I like the way grey melts into any colour quilt. But variegated threads can look fab in negative space.
I use mostly off white or black thread. They go with everything.
Lately I have worked with a lime green and a light purple. next is a variable called carnival and then it will be red! Colors are fun.
Diane in Wyoming
I like to use varigated thread.
Would love to win! I use mostly pink and white…
I use grey or beige most of the time.
I love to quilt with Rainbow threads. I also use a lot of Aurifils neutral colors. You can never have too many colors of thread.
Cool triangles.
Lately I have been using a lot of lime green in my thread.
What marveous quilts and was sure fun to vote.
Thanks again for the inspiration and fun eye candy for quilters!
Ooops! I forgot about the color thread. I use mostly light beige thread for my piecing and variegated for my quilting.
I use a complimentary colour, so it depends on the top. I really like varigated threads lately.
I love the varigated colors and a cream or off white.
Thank goodness for variety I have no particular favorite just what strikes at the moment Thanks
I use so many different colors but a lot of brown.
I usually use an off white thread. I do not want to take away from all the piecing of the quilt blocks with thread that takes your eye away from the main event.
I usually use cream or variegated – just depends how I’m feeling.
I’m only a beginner as far as quilting a quilt (more of a topper) so like Yvonne I try not to distract from then piecing.
I love using variegated threads when quilting, and gray when piecing. It absolutely amazes me how no matter what colors you have used in a quilt top, there is the perfect variegated out there to compliment it! And now that I finally found the secret to not getting the variegateds to break constantly (topstitch needle), I love them all the more.
I use colors to match my fabrics, but I almost always seem to choose variegated threads. I love the way they alternately blend and accent creating sparkle!
When piecing, I use natural (an off-white) and when quilting, I match the bobbin to the backing and usually a neutral tone that doesn’t distract from the pieced top.
I mostly use white or off white in my quilting. For piecing, I like to use a light grey or cream.
I <3 Aurifil threads! For piecing I typically use a soft medium gray, but really enjoy having a variety of colors to use for applique. The 50wt is wonderful for it, just disappears into the fabric and becomes almost invisible!
I uses either white or black depending on the tone, though I do like to match thread to fabric if I hae the color.
