Aurifil Thread Box Birthday Give-Away

Earlier this week, the Quilting Gallery turned 7!! I want to thank you all for visiting my site over the years, leaving comments, sending me email, buying my patterns, joining swaps and other fun events. I adore all of you!

If someone had told me seven years ago, that quilting would become my main source of income and encompassing so much of my life, I wouldn’t have believed them. But that it has, and I’m very grateful and fortunate to be able to live the life as a quilter.

I have lots of exciting things planned for you in the new year. Of course, the move has put me a bit behind schedule, but I’m working hard to get caught up.

Speaking of the move … here’s my new desk/office set-up:

I’ll be sharing more complete photos next week… for now, here are a couple I took after Ikea delivered and assembled the new studio furniture.

I’m just about done organizing and sorting everything into their new home and will be stitching THIS weekend. I haven’t sewn a stitch since before our Thanksgiving, mid October. I’ve really missed it.

To celebrate the Quilting Gallery’s birthday, our friends at Aurifil have generously donated a thread box of Pat Sloan’s The Perfect Box of Neutrals. Aren’t these threads just gorgeous?

Earlier this month, Aurifil announced the 2015 Aurifil Design Team. For the past few years, designers have been making free quilt blocks to share with Aurifil fans. You might remember my Nana’s Buttons block from earlier this year.

Next year, instead of blocks, the designers will be sharing free mini quilts with you. Here is the star-studded line-up of designers:

To enter the give-way to win the The Perfect Box of Neutrals, simply leave a comment below telling me which of the above designers you’re most excited to get to know better next year and that you are looking forward to their free mini quilt pattern.

One random winner will be chosen next Thursday, December 18th. Winner will be notified via email. One entry per person please. Aurifil pays for shipping directly to the winner.

For me, I can’t wait to see what Ebony Love and John Kubiniec come up with. I adore mini quilts!

    I have never gotten to know any male quilters – so I’m interested in seeing what kind of mini-quilt John Kubiniec brings to the party. I’m getting re-started in quilting after a few health challenges – mini-quilts sound like something I can handle while I get my feet back under me. Thanks.

    I’ve been quilting nearly 20 years, but my husband is a fledgling quilter who just completed his first quilt. He doesn’t care for piecing, so it’s a panel quilt with double border, but it was all free-motioned quilted & thread painted on our home machine & embellished with images from our embroidery machine. The only part he let me help with was the hand stitching on the binding. He presented it this week to a buddy who is recovering from a stroke. I’d love for him to see more of John K’s work.

    I would like to learn more about and see the vision of quilting from John Kubiniec. Even though I am fairly new at this wonderful and creative craft but since I have started I haven’t had many tutorials or patterns or knowledge of any men who quilt and sew. This interests me because I would love to learn how they use their creativity in the projeccts they do.. it will be interesting to know how he started and if their is a difference in how he uses his skills and talent.

    I simply cannot choose just one person. I am new to quilting and am loving the inspiration I am getting from your site! I am just finishing up my second quilt that is a CHRISTmas gift for my hubby who is in a nursing home. It is twin sized for his hospital bed and every stitch is hand sewn! The first one was a queen sized sampler quilt , also hand stitched. I love hand stitching rather than machine. I have a bad back and cannot sit at the sewing machine for any length of time. By hand stitching I can take sections along when I go places to keep my hands busy while waiting for appointments. Thank you for offering all the wonderful ideas on this site,

    If a person from the UK can infiltrate your giveaway then I would choose Valori Wells. I am blown away by all the fantastic American Quilters and their designs, although that is not to say we do not have brilliant ones in the UK, like Lynne Edwards. In fact I am so inspired that I have booked to come to Three Sisters Quilt Show 2015. Now that will be a treat for me as I am also disabled but nothing ventured nothing gained!     As program chair, I’ve brought John Kubinec to the Village Squares Quilters and everyone was excited by his quilts, so I recommend that you find him for your quilt guilds.

    I think I’d like to get to meet Valori Wells. It’s easy to remember when she was a newcomer to quilting, but I understand she does so many interesting things with fabric.

My husband was was in the Air Force and was stationed in Iceland for 1 year in 1955. When I read that Gundrun was from Iceland, I felt a connection to her.

    I just purchased Aurifil thread for the first time. I’m excited to use it and see the difference. I’ve only been quilting for 2years and still learning.     I would be so happy to win some Aurifil thread because I can’t get it here in Japan and those colors are so perfect. I don’t know much about the designers because I mostly make up my own designs and many of the latest patterns are geared to machine sewers, but mabe if I were to meet one, John Kubiniec would be fun to meet

    For myself, I know none of these names yet, really, except Pat Sloan, because I see her name plastered everywhere, so I will start with her, lol! I am excited about the new venue…love mini quilts! Aurifil thread was recommended to me by my LQS. After a big mishap with old thread, I decided after Xmas I needed to buy a truckload of new thread. Everyone seems to love this brand! I guess I will start with the basics , lol! LOVEbeing a part of Michele’s group and have met some wonderful and helpful ladies! It’s kind of tough starting this so late in life… I feel I am lacking in so many skills that I should have acquired so many years ago! I have lots of catching up to do!
