I use the 6″x12″ ruler most, but my fave is probably the 4.5″ square because that size always means I am cutting out something fun! 😀

  94. Heather Avatar

Right now it happens to be the 15 degree wedge by Bethany Renyolds as I bought a dresden kit and the fan blades were not accurately cut and I have over 250 of them to trim to size.

My favorite rule is my 6″ x 12″ ruler. It’s the most handy and easy enough to pack. If I want to make larger cuts, I can fold the fabric.

  100. Nesta Avatar

My favourite ruler is still my 10 x 45 cm one, the first I ever used. Please don’t make me calculate the conversion!

  101. Carol Avatar

These quilts are all incredible–thank you all for sharing. I think my favorite ruler is my 6 x 24″ because it is most versatile for cutting, no matter the width of fabric.

I like my new 8-1/2″ x 24″ ruler. I can cut folded widths of fabric up to 8-1/2″ wide and many patterns call for widths wider than the old 6″ x 24″ rulers can handle.

Great quilts! I love to use my 6″ x 24″ ruler every time I use my rotary cutter because it fits the width of the material when I fold the material in half lengthwise.

  123. Judy Avatar

It was hard to pick this week!
Fave ruler is my 6 x 12. Once WOF is cut I switch to the 6 x 12 because it’s easier to maneuver, yet still covers just about any subcuts to be made. That said, I’ve been using a 3.5 x 12 the past few days and it’s really nice to work with. AND I’m using it on blocks made with Good Morning charm packs! Also Twirl and Ticklish. Love all of the fabrics from Me and My Sister Designs!

  140. trillium Avatar

My favorite size of quilting ruler is 6 1/2 X 24 inches. I can cut really long fabric strips with my rotary cutter with it, as well as even off the selvedges of my fabrics before I cut out something, whether owl shapes for stuffed animals or squares for pieced quilts. It comes in really handy when making my strips of 4″ patch blocks even before I sew them together. I am happy that I bought it because it has saved me time.

Rulers are funny things, some have specific purposes and some are general purpose.

The reality is I love & use my 6×24 ruler all day long. It is always at the ready to help me cut into my stash.

Second place would go to specific purpose rulers such as, Eleanor Burns’ Flying Geese rulers & Deb Tucker’s Wing Clipper Rulers – which are indispensable for perfect geese. But I have MANY favorites! Marti Michell’s Perfect Patchwork Templates.

Another used daily ruler: Fons & Porter’s Quarter Inch Seam Marker!

A new ruler I am falling in love with is Sew Kind of Wonderful’s Quick Curve Ruler.

Come on over and let’s play!

I love the 6 1/2 in. square ruler. I love making hsts and it’s easie to make them a tad bit bigger than to fiddle with 7/8 in markings, and then square them up. I have found it works with most size patterns.

I have to say the 24″ lipped ruler that I got a garage sale. The gentlemans wife had passed away and he had a tub of all her sewing stuff. There were 3 rulers and a ton of fabric, most of the items I donated to my church. But I did keep the lipped ruler, love it.

  165. Erin Hutchinson Avatar
