Lullaby By: Lindy, Washington, USA QA issued a challenge last year with a photo as inspiration. I had been reading up and wanting to try thread painting so I ‘went for it’. Swan thread painted on wool felt, then appliqued on silk scarf and batiks. My mother loved this mother swan piece so much she now has it on display in her home. Quilt size: width: 11" height: 8.5" |

Yellow Lady Slippers By: Dinah Tackett, New Mexico, USA I made this for my Mother a couple of years ago for Christmas. It is one of my early Art quits. I used Yellow Ladyslipper for the design because she loves them (actually any yellow flowers). The flowers are a combination of Batik, sheer fabric and silk ribbon. It is machine quilted. OK…because of the “Life” quilt, I’m gonna get myself up off the sewing chair today and EXERCISE :) (Beautiful work, by the way!)
It was really hard to choose just one. I wanted to vote for several of these beautiful works of art! The number of mixed media pieces was phenominal!
The “Measure of Time” is an outstanding piece of art. There are other wonderful quilts in this weeks exhibition, but that one strikes a major cord with me.
So great to see something outside of the norm with these quilts, art quilts are really starting to interest me.
