Welcome everyone to this week’s star block lesson for the Delightful Stars Quilt-Along (DS QAL). This week’s lesson is Block #2:
This week’s construction tip has to do with joining the flying geese units so that the middle point is accurate. In the photo below, notice where my stitching line is on the back of one of my flying geese units, when I’m attaching it to the centre piece. It’s a couple of threads away from the intersection formed when the FG units come together.
This way, when I press the seam, that triangle tip will be as close to perfect as I can get it. Those extra two threads away, account for the thread width and the seam fold. You may need to experiment with this based on your fabric thickness, thread width and pressing preference.
