brave little pansies By: Glenda Penner, British Columbia, Canada Original design-Brave little pansies bloom almost year round here on the coast. Raw edge applique; such a freeing technique, was placed over a pieced background. I exaggerated the value difference for emphasis and they really show up crisply, even from a distance. Zebras in My Garden By: Anne Deister, Colorado, USA I love all the glorious colors, shapes and sizes of flowers. With all the color, the quilt took on a very luminous, almost stained glass appearance. The black and white accent stripes became the “zebras” in my garden. I love the bleeding hearts that grow in my front yard. They were my grandmother’s favorite plant and they remind me of her.
At the moment the jasmine is blooming and I love the scent that fills the garden. A month ago the lemons were flowering and citrus flowers smell heavenly!
My favorite is the rambling rose Crepesule, the most beautiful apricot/peach flowers and a repeat flowerer.
We have 2 covering our back fence.
Choosing a favorite flower is like choosing a favorite color. Still, I’m pretty sentimental about old fashioned pinks. I love their blue green foliage and petals with the wonderful pinked edges in lip-stick shades. So lovely.

Mine changes depending on what is in bloom but I think overall it would be a climbing rose.
My favorite flower is the azalea, which is blooming right now here in PEI.
Garden? What Garden!!! I do have a yard full of blooming Fireweed in the late summer that is spectacular!

We have no garden, no flowers, no plants. But, when it comes to flowers, anything orange or peach is always my favorite!
My absolute favourite’s are pin cushion Hakea’a. I just love everything about them – size, shape, colour. I’ve only known them for a few years (since I migrated to Aus) but I just love them :)
In my garden I enjoy Fuscia because the hummingbirds enjoy this plant. The plant flowers all season and the colour is red tones.
In my garden I right now I love the Pansies; esp the ones with little faces. Later I like the Queen Anne’s Lace.
Although you wouldn’t know it’s spring with this cold weather – never the less my Siberian Iris is in full bloom – one of my favorites!
I love lilacs…so pretty and love the scent.
Right now I have no flowers in my yard. The rental house has rock and ponderosa pines. I’m up at 6500 feet. If I had flowers, I love freesias and old fashioned scented roses (not the hybrids)
Right now I have my peonies blooming. This is the best year ever. Even the new one that didn’t even sprout last year has the largest hot pink bloom. Unfortunately peony season is only 2-3 weeks long!
Wow! I need to take pictures so I can make my own fabric from these glorious blooms.
Nice quilts. Pretty fabric. :) I wish I had a garden. There are gardenia bushes in the front and they make me gag. There is one pretty flower on the other side of the house. It looks like an upside down spider lily. Very pretty.
I love my lilacs but they don’t last long. The peonies, and poppies are next. Then a summer full of roses.
Love my daylilies for the long blooming season, bright colors, and minimal care needed.

My favorite in my garden, though hard to choose, would be my chenille plant, with its little hot pink caterpillar-like blooms.
I love all my flowers. In the spring I love my hyacinths, peonies and iris. Summer brings the roses, lilies and hydrangea. But my favorite is in the fall when the mums are in full bloom.
My favorite flowers are my pink cone flowers.
Daffodils are my favorite flower in my garden, especially since the deer don’t like them.
My favorite flower is the tiger lily. We live on a shady lot, and it’s one of the few flowers that loves our yard and multiplies, giving us hundreds of orange flowers!
My favourite flowers are the old-fashioned ones, roses, lilacs, pansies, stock… the kind my grandmother had in her garden when I was little. She was also a quilter.

I love roses, so they are always my favorite in the garden, but right now my lilac bushes are amazing, and the peonies are coming. I used to have amazing Asiatic lillies, but i think the groundhogs got to them. Pretty quilts this week!
I love lily of the Valley. It has been a very cold spring here, so they are not blooming yet. My lilacs are also waiting.
They are all so pretty! it is hard to narrow it down to 4.
oops forgot to mention my petunia’s in our garden. I love them because they keep coming back year after year and they put off a lovely scent.
