Second place winning design in AccuQuilt’s 2011 Barn Quilt Design contest, this quilt was inspired by my son, then serving with his Army combat engineer unit in Afghanistan. Their mission: Route Clearance – sweeping for mines, making roads safe for travel. Thank heaven for his safe return.

I made this mini quilt for the Altzheimers Quilt Innitiative in honor of my father, Raymond Barna, to help raise money for Altzheimer’s research. He served in the Navy and I was very proud of him. This quilt was machine appliqued and quilted from a pattern by Sindy Rodenmayer of Fat Cat Patterns.

A friend who is a Veteran, that served during WWII also loves boating and nautical flags, as well as red, white & blue. I decided to make a special Patriotic Quilt for him. Many of the flags have flaps (to blow in the wind) and I had friends sign a space underneath those flags. He was delighted!

I made this quilt for a soldier I adopted almost 7 years ago. We have gone through 3 deployments together. His last deployment he was wounded and came home early. I made this quilt or him as he loves to hunt. I thought it might give him some comfort during his recovery

This quilt was made for Cpl. Joshua Kerns of Virginia. His mother is a FB friend. He is a wounded veteran-Afghanistan conflict. The pattern was part of a mystery quilt event. It is called “Stepping Stones” designed by Shannon Maciejewski. It has the Marine Corp emblem in the black blocks.

    Both my ex and one of my sons were Marines and they always say “Semper Fi” and “Once a Marine, Always a Marine” so, of course Roberta’s got my vote.
