Welcome to my stop on the Mini Blog Tour for Konda Luckau’s latest book Simply Charming Minis. I’m so excited to be participating. I’m giving away a copy of the book to one of my lucky readers too, see below for information on how to enter.
Simply Charming Minis has 16 mini quilts ranging in size from 13″ to 21″. They can be made from scraps or charm squares. Konda has included quick piecing methods and very easy to follow diagrams to go along with the written instructions. There’s even a new-to-me way of making HSTs that I’ll be sharing, with permission of course, in this week’s Beginner’s Quilt-Along post. Here’s a sample page:
While the instructions are in grey scale, there are two colours ways of each quilt shown. Let’s see the mini quilts!
I plan to make to make Nine Patch Magic first as I fell in love with this design as soon as I saw it. My second favourite is Criss Cross Applesauce.
Personally, I love making mini quilts and have hosted several swaps featuring them. Mini quilts are a great opportunity to try out a new technique or colour combination without investing a lot of time and money in making a full-sized quilt. I have at least a dozen in my collection made from quilting friends all over the world. In my bedroom, out of the sunshine, I have planned a mini quilt wall, similar to this one on Flickr.
Quilt-Along
In addition to the blog tour, Konda will be hosting a quilt-along based on the book. It will run from September 11 through April 2, 2013. We’ll be making four quilt tops every two weeks and then taking a couple weeks in between each cycle to finish each quilt. Come April, you’ll have 12 mini quilts. Konda will even have prizes along the way! My special day will be in November. You’ll need to purchase the Simply Charming Minis book in order to participate in this quilt-along.
Give-Away
This is the last day of the blog tour; however, you can still WIN a copy of the book from some of the earlier participants. I’m giving away a copy too!

Wow~ I love them all! I think though, I would make Flying Around in Circles first~ it seems to be ‘me’ right now! LOL Thanks for the chance!
I like Lilies and Lace and 2nd choice would be Flying in circles.
I like Flying Around in Circles!
It’s so hard to choose just one! I think I like Baby Birds best. The mini quilts are so cute!
I would make “Criss Cross Applesauce” firsst … and then the rest
For me it’s got to be “Bitty Bits” or “Cherry on Top.” They are delightful! I think Konda’s quilt-along would be great for practicing quilting techniques.
I really think I might make Rosebud Bouquet first..but I am with you on CrissCross Applesauce as a strong second.
Would love to try making mini quilts and Morse code will be the first I would make
Fire & Rain or Mini Baskets…love both…there are so many nice patterns in this book, I would probably have to try them all!
fire and rain, whacks you straight in the face!
There are several designs I would like to try, but I think I’d start with Death by Triangles.
Thanks for a chance to win!
If I was to win the book I think I would do “Death with Triangles” first. Good idea to make the minis as you say it is a great way to see if you like the colours and for me, if I can do the pattern successfully.
I would make the Mini Flower Garden!!
I love the book! I’d make the Mini Flower Garden first.
There are so many lovely quilts. I think I would start with Criss cross applesauce first, then work my way through the rest! Thank you for the giveaway.
The Rosebud Bouquet is calling my name at the moment, but I confess I’d probably make many more than just that one! I do so love minis. Thanks for the chance to win this fun book.
Mini basket in Mama said sew was lovely!!! I’d go for that one!
I would make In Love with Mimi’s, because if I made it as a present, I would secretly want one for myself too! It’s a quilt I could make in advance for the fun of it, but it would serve as a wedding present, baby present, anniversary present or engagement present, so you can’t go wrong having it stashed away in waiting!
flower garden!
First I´ll be sewing “Flying Around in Circles”. I like Flying Geese. Then I guess I´ll be sewing the rest of them, cause miniquilts are so cute!

I really like the morse code quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!
