A Night Out In The Forest A Night Out In The Forest
By: Juditzsuzsanna,
Belgium

This pillow is part of a Baby Quilt Set which contains a blanket and a pillow with the same motives. Their main motif is a big owl. When I made this quilt I was thinking about a cold night out in the forest and I wanted to warm me up. :)) Yes, yes ….. I love making quilts with appliques.

This quilt is made for a 18 years old family member. I always make a quilt when a family member is 18. All of them can chose colours themselves, and I chose the pattern. This pattern is an idea from Lise Bergene, a fantastic quilter and author from Norway.

Bulls-Eye Bulls-Eye
By: Calicojoan,
Colorado, USA

Bulls Eye, was born as a scrappy quilt that allowed me to “bust” thru some scraps, along with practicing free motion quilting. It as my first attempt at free motion and I loved the texture that was revealed as I quilted. The raggy edges of the circles added another dimension to the quilt.

Cindy's Quilt Cindy’s Quilt
By: Carolyn Braun,
New Jersey, USA

I made this quilt as a gift for my sister, after 10 years she was moving home to NJ. It took me some time to pick the perfect fabrics for her. I wanted a non-traditional look to this quilt so I chose the pattern Curious Nature by David Butler. The quilting is straight lines, all roads point to home.

By: Nancy Barnes,

I did this quilt at the Mississippi Stat Quilt Assoc. fall gathering. It was one of the classes. I love how free and easy this quilt is. There is no right or wrong way to put it together. It is a great way to use up scraps of fabrics.

Curried Plums Curried Plums
By: Debbie Grifka,
Michigan, USA

This quilt started with the idea of raindrops and the rings they make in puddles. After sketching the basic layout of the rings and circles, I added lots of negative space. I love how negative space gives a design room to breathe. In order to accent the appliquéd area, I used a different background.

This quilt is the product of a class with Dena Crain on Quilt University. I really enjoy the “Darner Quilt” technique. I didn’t notice that some of my circles look like baseballs until the quilt was done. :-)

Hyperreal table runner Hyperreal table runner
By: Shape Moth,
Germany

A table runner made with Hyperreal Garden fabrics from Art Gallery and matching solids. When I was preparing the pattern I thought that sewing will not be so difficult, but it was a challenge – especially those thin yellow edges around the circles.

This is a scrap art quilt. Trying to purge my bits and pieces of fabric has been a challenge but this contest was a great help to me. I used cotton commercial fabrics, cotton batting, muslin backing, raw edge applique, free-motion stitching and zig zag edging.

Pixellated Wedding Rings Pixellated Wedding Rings
By: CathyW,
United Kingdom

I made this quilt for my niece’s wedding present. After worrying about managing the curves on the traditional wedding ring quilt pattern, I was pleased to find a quilt picture similar to this, which I managed to copy. I think a pixellated version is very appropriate for a modern couple!

Quilting Circle Quilting Circle
By: WaggonsWest,
Missouri, USA

I am fortunate to belong to a circle of younger women who gather ostensibly to quilt an amazing supportive group that shares much more than a love of fabric. Young and old, life happens and we stitch our way through it together. This quilt was our first project, a perfect metaphor.

Wedding Rings Wedding Rings
By: Tammy Kuse,
Illinois, USA

Wedding Rings is a variation of the Drunkard’s Path pattern. I chose it to be the wedding gift for a friend whose wedding color is red. It’s bigger than I expected, at almost 6′ square, but that’s ok. Should be big enough for the newly married couple to snuggle under together.

Wild and Crazy Circle Quilt Wild and Crazy Circle Quilt
By: Karen O,
Minnesota, USA

This is the 3rd quilt I made. My 14 yr old daughter has colored circles on her wall, so circles with the same colors seemed appropriate. She helped me pick out many of the fabrics. I had my doubts as I worked on it, but I think it is wonderful.
