38 By: Michelle Marr, Oregon, USA
Instead of sulking when my husband had to work a long overtime shift on my birthday last year, I started a new quilt, based on a photograph of one from 1854. By the end of the week, my present to myself was done. It’s a scrappy two color quilt; each of the stars is a different dark blue print.

Bernice’s Lone Star By: Bonnie Coleman, Florida, USA
Quilt was made from a kit, it was my first attempt of making a quilt from start to finish. I struggled at times, became so acquainted with my seam ripper, walked away a few time, but I never gave up. I made it for my Mother In Law as no one had ever made her a quilt and I wanted to be the first.

I use this super comfy quilt for my lap at work. It gets cold! I hand quilted the red inside the stars and machine quilted the sashing and the charm squares. I backed it with an old, soft blanket that makes it so cuddly! Pattern from Moda Bake Shop. This quilt just makes me happy.

Cinnamon Twist By: Pastimes Quilt Design, Utah, USA
I wanted to design a quilt that men might like. Since I am a “girly” girl most of my fabric and designs are feminine, cute, or flowery. I thought using browns and reds with no flowers might make it look more manly.

A star quilt in wines, teals, purples and burgundy for a friend. It is made using individual diamonds and free motion quilting. I loved making this quilt for Anne, to fit her personality, her color scheme – her unique … open demandingness for lack of better words. I loved each moment of creation!

Oh! My Stars! (Lindy) By: Lindy, Washington, USA
I love the challenge of challenge quilts! It frees me to try new methods, difficult blocks, unusual color schemes. Though I love the ‘no rules’ of art quilting, occasionally parameters (size, limited fabrics) help me stretch and grow as an artist. This has been one of my favorite quilts for 12 years
