Catty Canes Catty Canes
By: Barbara Stanbro,
Oregon, USA

From Janet Kimes’ book, “Christmas Cats and Dogs”, this quilt was made for a doll quilt swap at Doll Quilters Monthly. The tails are paper-pieced while the remainder is traditional piecing. I used hot fix nailheads for the eyes and metallic thread for the faces.

Christmas Dahlia Christmas Dahlia
By: Mary Manson,

This quilt was a lot of new patterns and techniques for me …giant dahlia pattern for the center, ribbon border, black background and backing, and heavily quilted with black thread. I machine pieced using pretty Christmas fabric, and it is heavily quilted with feathers, circles, and parallel lines.

Crazy Christmas Trees Crazy Christmas Trees
By: QuiltSue,
United Kingdom

I made this quilt last year using a pattern by Sandy Gervais (I think), but I made it larger and added borders. It was a fun quilt to make, but challenging for me as I needed about 30 FQs to start it and I am the person who wrote the book Pick Four, about making quilts using just 4 fabrics

Joy of Christmas Joy of Christmas
By: Kaaren Biggs,

This was a row-a-month quilt with the designs coming from various sources. The machine quilting in a 12-wt. deep gold thread sets off the designs perfectly. This is the fourth Christmas quilt I have made but the first one I have been able to keep!

Santa's Trip Around the World Santa’s Trip Around the World
By: Joanna,

Snowy Christmas Mantle Quilt Snowy Christmas Mantle Quilt
By: Lettyb,

I sketched this in the middle of the night – then brought it to life over a few weekends. I used fusible fleece for the snow, and love the way it turned out! I made a scalloped border at the bottom, then sewed prairie points in between.

Stumbled upon the voting of the Christmas quilts tonight. Fascinating! Picked four of the top five quilts, so I know I must be among the majority who appreciated them! These contests were probably just as much fun for every one of them as this one was for me. You had a great idea, and I am sorry I was not aware of them earlier. Your site has instantly become a favorite of mine. Thank you for all your work putting the contests together.
