A Maine winter. I long to wrap up in flower petals. A pink hibiscus provides inspiration. Layers of pink create giant petals. Much thread painting later, I declare it done. The quilt does not agree. I bead. Sprays of sparkling beads on the dark, asymetrical background finally complete Bali Bloom.

Quilting this panel was like coloring with crayons. Each flower needed a different color of thread and attention to its design. The outer border is quilted in a leaf pattern. I really enjoyed this project. It is hanging in my sewing room to enjoy every day.

I love flowers, all flowers. While in Sisters OR I bought a stonehedge Jelly Roll and made a jelly roll race background. I then appliqued some of my favorite flowers onto it and I like the way it came out. I will use Hi-loft batting and hand quilt my quilt. Should take me about 5 weeks to complete.

This was a nine patch I designed and made from batiks, after it was done I decided to add this fun flower that I drew myself and hand appliqued on. I quilted with tiny bubbles all over the quilt it matching threads but also going over into adjesent nine patches to give it a cool look.

Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. For Spring, I see lots of flowers, wildlife looking for food and a tree with lots of dogwood blooms. It’s part fusible applique, blooms are lightly glued on, and free motion quilted with birds, tree branches and leaves.
