The Winners are …

For some unknown reason, the voting poll didn’t turn off yesterday when I told it to, and it’s still running today.  :(  Any new votes will not be counted.  I’ll have to figure out what’s going on next week. I’m at my folks for the next few days, and Mom’s needing me back in the kitchen to help with dinner. Turkey and all the fixings, perfect for this cool day.

The winners of the Lazy Days of Summer photo contest are:

Thanks to everyone for their submissions. They are all winners in my book, so beautiful.

Have a great weekend!

Michele

The prizes are a Lazy Days of Summer wall hanging that I made, and two prizes of 6 gorgeous hand-dyed fat quarters that Lynn from Fiber Fantasies donated. A huge thank-you to Lynn for her wonderful donation.

A big thank-you to everyone who submitted an entry. It has been great fun to see all of the wonderful creations.

There are a total of 34 entries below. You can click on the name to view the quilt, or browse these three posts: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. Voting will end Thursday morning at 8:00 am (EDT).

Home Sweet Home

Almost 4,000 kilometres and 8 States (New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland) later, I am back home. It’s been a fantastic trip. I can’t wait for the next road trip. This was a lot of fun. Here’s my route:

Been quiet around here …

I’ve been busy working on a new web site for my sister that we launched last night. It’s for daycare providers and parents in Durham Region, Ontario. If you live in the area, or know people that do, please visit. It’s an exciting venture for her and I wish her all the success in the world.

I’ve also been planning the finer details of my trip to Nashville. I’m leaving on Sunday, driving through northeastern New York, into Ohio where I’ll stay one night and explore Dutch/Amish country the next day, then head into Kentucky for another night, then continue on into Nashville arriving on Tuesday. If you know of any must stop and see quilt shops on the way, please let me know. I’ll have my cell phone with me, and my laptop, so if you want to get together drop me an email.

I’ve received 14 lovely submissions for the Lazy Days of Summer Photo Contest which I hope to post on the weekend before I leave. Note, you don’t have to be a member of the Quilting Bloggers directory to submit a photo, I think there was some confusion on this. It’s open to anyone. Keep those submissions coming!

I also have a new guest blogger to feature later this week, or early next week. And, I’m busy working on something very special for this site … to be revealed in the next couple of days.. stay tuned.

Oh, I do have a request for help … I’ve been waiting two months to get some black perle cotton size 12 from the local shop here. Apparently, they are the only place that has it in town, and guess what, they still don’t have it. Does anyone know where I can buy it in the US, perhaps a chain store, that I can stop at on my way. I’m bringing some pieces to hand blanket stitch for my niece’s quilt, and I’d really like to get working on them once I hit the road. Does Joanne’s sell it (I’ve never looked), or Michaels in the US? Do quilt shops normally carry it, just the ones I know about up here don’t?

Happy Quilting,
Michele

Lazy Days of Summer Photo Contest

lazy-days-of-summer

We’re well into August, and soon Summer will be over. Did it ever start in Ottawa? We’ve had a cooler than normal and very wet summer here. For me who loves it hot and sunny, I keep waiting for those days. I’m glad to be heading South next week, where I hope I’ll find some of that heat and sunshine.

What better way to say goodbye to the summer that never was, than having a Lazy Days of Summer Photo Contest.

What have you been working on this summer? (or this winter for my lovely quilting friends in the southern hemisphere).

Guidelines:

Send me a photo via email of your latest quilting project. If it’s not 100% done, that’s OK too. Include your name, quilt title and your blog address (if you have one). Just one submission per person, please.

Submissions will be accepted up to the end of August 31, 2008.

Every week or so, I’ll do a blog post of the previous week’s submissions.

Early September, site visitors will be able to vote for their favourite. I’ll announce the winners around September 10, 2008.

The Prizes:

There will be three lucky winners. Here are the prizes.

A Lazy Days of Summer wall hanging that I’ve been working on:

daisy-lady-bug

And, Lynn over at Fiber Fantasies has very generously donated a dozen gorgeous hand-dyed fat quarters. We’re going to split the dozen for two winning prizes of 6 each. (I wish I could enter, as I love these fabrics… wow!)

hand dyed cottons

Lynn wrote: “When I hand dye cottons, I use PFD cotton, ProChem reactive dyes, rinse excess with Synthrapol, then machine wash in hot water with Synthrapol. They are ‘ready to use’.”

Email me your submissions!

P.S. Feel free to use the Lazy Days of Summer Photo Contest graphic at the top of this post on your own site to promote the contest. Thanks!
