Summertime Mini Received

Here’s the gorgeous mini quilt I received from Bradie in Alberta. I absolutely love it and will hang it in my sewing area for daily inspiration. Thank you Bradie, you are very talented.

My Good Ol’ Summertime Mini Quilt

Here’s the mini quilt I made for the Good Ol’ Summertime Swap. It will start its journey today to my partner in the States.

I used paper piecing strips that I created to stitch the mini flying geese units. They finish at 2″ wide by 1″ high. It went together really quickly and accurately doing them this way.

For the quilting, I stitched around each goose unit and the sashing, then did free-motion loop stippling in the border. I had tried to free-motion the stitch in the ditch, but it was awful, so I ended up using the walking foot instead.

This is the first quilt where I hand-stitched the binding to the back of the quilt. I used Nadine’s Invisible Hand Binding Tutorial; it was a great help. I was slow and rather awkward at the beginning, but got much quicker and more consistent as I worked my way around.

Reminder: Today is the final mail date for the Summertime Swap. Your mini quilt should be making its way to its partner today. If you are going to be late, please email me and your partner to let us know when you expect to mail it. All quilts should arrive by the end of next week.

Look for a new swap starting tomorrow … it’s a small project, but packed with loads of creative fun.

Reminders

I’m slowly catching up after Canada Day celebrations last week and a visit to my family north of Toronto over the weekend. I had a fabulous time playing with my nieces, they are the best.

Just a few quick reminders:

Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap

To all participants in the Spring Blooms Mini Quilt Swap:

I know everyone is eager to receive their quilt and to find out if the quilt they sent has arrived. However, I’ve been getting a dozen or so emails a day asking on the status of their mini quilt. Please, please allow 14 to 21 business days for your quilt to arrive.

Before emailing me to follow-up, please check the participants list yourself, to see if the person you sent to has a blog and follow-up with them directly.

Please also note that approximately 25% of the participants were late sending their quilts. This is unfortunate, and I’m not sure why so many people were late. Let’s hope the Summer swap goes more smoothly.

I won’t be following up with any requests until the end of the month… I just don’t have the time to continue to do this.
