Friday Give-Away – Terri Thayer’s Quilting Mystery Books

Friday Give-Aways from the Quilting Gallery

Congratulations to #19 Sue Cahill for winning last week’s give-away of a free online class and 1 metre of Indigo-dyed fabric from Quilting Weekly and Wendy Nash.

Follow the adventures of Dewey Pellicano, a Silicon Valley techie, who inherits her mother’s quilt shop. She knows little about quilting, but even less about murder. When the buyer for her shop gets killed at a huge quilting convention, Dewey meets up with Buster Healy, homicide detective. Their attraction is swift and steamy. Another murder, at the far-out fashion show, leads Dewey down a path she will continue on – finding the person responsible for the murder.

Author Terri Thayer has been quilting for over 25 years and has worked in quilt shops, at major quilt conventions and taught quilting. She blogs every Friday at Killer Hobbies. You can also friend her on Facebook. She loves to hear from fans of Dewey. Terri was also a guest blogger last February.

This week’s give-away is one set of the three Dewey Pellicano quilting mystery books. If we get more than 100 comments, then a second set will also be given away. To enter the contest, please leave a comment below. The contest closes December 11, 2009.

Friday Give-Away – Online Class and Indigo-Dyed Fabric

Friday Give-Aways from the Quilting Gallery

Congratulations to #40 Barbara G. for winning last week’s give-away of Books 1-2-3 of The Quilt Ladies collection.

This week’s give-away of a free online class (winner’s choice) and 1 metre of hand-dyed homespun cotton fabric is brought to you by Chris Dahl and Michelle Frost of Quilting Weekly and Wendy Nash.

QuiltingWeekly_graphic

At Quilting Weekly we take quilting beyond the classroom and into your home with original quilt patterns that you download right to your own computer. Our patterns come with detailed photos, easy to follow instructions and some even include videos. When you purchase a pattern you get more than just a pattern; you get personal and individual guidance from our instructors.

What sets our lessons apart from other online classes is we encourage individuality. We want to inspire your own unique and creative style, instead of expecting "cookie cutter" quilts from our students. We do this by including multiple projects or different layout options in our patterns. There is more to us than a pattern. We hold quilting discussions twice a month, offer free patterns & tips which are all designed to help inspire your creativity.

indigo

Wendy Nash has been a community artist on the Island of Tasmania for many years. She loves to use the environment to dye fabric – from the forest to the ocean – she loves using nature to provide the color to her fabrics. The piece of fabric (homespun cotton) that will be given away will be hand dyed with natural Indigo. This will create a beautiful blue color with various patterns that will look fabulous when it is turned into any kind of quilt.

Please note: The picture above is an example of Indigo dyeing – the final piece will be a surprise.

To enter the contest, please leave a comment below. One random winner will be chosen to win both prizes. The contest closes December 3, 2009.

Reminder: Please submit your family-favourite recipes for the Quilter’s Cookbook this week.

P.S. If you’re reading this on Facebook, please click through to the blog post to leave your comment. Entries on Facebook will not be considered.

Friday Give-Away – Hand-dyed Fat Quarter Set

Friday Give-Aways from the Quilting Gallery

Congratulations to #21 Billie K. for winning Jenny Wilding Cardon’s The Little Box of Baby Quilts.

This week’s give-away is for a hand dyed fat quarter set of your choice from Vicki Welsh’s Fabric Palette collection. The Fabric Palette collections are sets of 5 to 8 themed hand dyed fat quarters. Some are color family sets, like Pink Petals, and some are image inspired sets, like the Bluebird Fabric Palette.

vicki-1

Vicki Welsh has been sewing, quilting and crafting almost since birth. She got into fabric dyeing literally because her best friend made her spend part of their annual Craft Week in 2001 dyeing fabric. By the end of the week she was hooked. The fabric dyeing passion grew as she embarked on a study of color theory. Vicki has developed an extensive color recipe book and specializes in dyeing fabric in custom colors. She opened her hand dyed fabric shop earlier this year.

vicki-2

Vicki carries the Fabric Palettes, Hand Dyed wide quilt backs, selvage-to-selvage gradients, hand painted fabrics and lots of one of a kind yards and parfait packs. She also has line of tie-dye t-shirts specializing in dyeing custom colors, such as sports team colors.

vicki-3

Be sure to visit Vicki’s very active blog, Field Trips in Fiber. She always has a lot of projects going on and she has a regular Field Tripping the Web feature highlighting fiber eye candy from around the web. She offers free tutorials and is hosting a monthly fabric postcard challenge and the prize is some of her yummy hand dyed or painted fabric.

You can Follow her on Twitter or Facebook and check out her Etsy shop for some lovely fabrics for your next project.
