Brenda Hall

Hi my name is Brenda, I am from southwestern Arizona. I have lived in Arizona since 1986 where I have raised my family. I am a busy mother of 6 happy children and married to Brian who is a Home builder/Developer. I am originally from the beautiful rocky mountains of Summit County, Utah. I do have a Inspiration/Craft blog that shows some of my quilts, along with quilts that I would love to make! Stop by and visit.

I am happy to be a guest blogger today! Thank you for allowing me to share my love for quilting! The world of quilting has opened a new door for me that I never dreamed would be so much fun and worth while! I have always loved fabrics along with the coordination of fabrics, patterns, textures and colors. I have a AS degree from Weber State University where my love of coordination of color, design and art begun!

I haven’t been quilting for very long. It all begun when I was the Enrichment Leader for my church. I organized a sewing class for several ladies from a very talented lady in our ward and I attended! It didn’t take long, I was hooked!

Incorporating Silk Flowers into Your Quilts

Guest Blogger Month at the Quilting Gallery

Greetings Everyone! My name is Ebony Love, and I am the owner & artist of LoveBug Studios. I started my business about 4 years ago, and focus on custom quilts and other items. I really love trying out new techniques, one of which is my topic for today. I have also started blogging recently, which is what brought me here, and I’m really excited to be a guest blogger and share with you my process to incorporate silk flowers in your quilts.

The Tools of the Trade

If you’re like me, somewhere in your house you have a vase full of fake flowers. If you want to bring new life to those flowers, don’t rearrange them, take them apart and use them in your quilts! I am sure there are books galore on this particular topic, but I’d like to show you a very easy way to do this with very simple tools you probably have laying around the house.

Crazy Quilter Patricia Winter

Guest Blogger Month at the Quilting Gallery

Patricia Winter

My name is Patricia Winter and I live in Indiana near the Dunes of Lake Michigan where I gather mermaid tears (sea glass) and inspiration for my work. I am a crazy quilt addict and enjoy stitching in my garden every chance I get.

I have always been crafty and since childhood, I’ve collected old buttons, broken jewelry, laces, miniatures, and anything that caught my fancy that I could fit in my hope chest. The love of old things and found items has proven to be training for my passion, Crazy Quilting.

In the 1980’s I cross stitched hundreds of designs, made 12 pieced quilts by hand, and tried several other crafts. All were interesting at the time, but nothing has captured my interest and kept my muse content like Crazy quilting has.

My first book on CQ was by Judith Baker Montano. It caught me hook, line, and sinker! Although I enjoy doing my own thing and rarely use patterns, I have every publication of hers to date for when I need inspiration.

Quilt-Along with Judy Laquidara

Guest Blogger Month at the Quilting Gallery

Judy Laquidara

Thanks Michele for inviting me to be a guest blogger. I’m so glad I found your site!

I’ve been quilting for three decades (and saying that makes me feel very old!) While wasting away a lunch hour one day, I came across a little quilt shop, went in and . . my world was forever changed!

It was there I learned to quilt. We were taught to do all hand piecing and hand quilting. Things have changed!

All of my piecing is now done by machine, mostly on old Singer 301 machines and all my quilting is done on an APQS Millennium, unless you want to count the hand quilting project I started in 1995 that still isn’t finished! Let’s not count that one though, ok?

Anne Maundrell in Brunei

Guest Blogger Month at the Quilting Gallery

Anne Maundrell

Thank you Michele for including me in your guest blogger spot and I hope that people will be interested to read a little about quilting in the tropics.

I am originally from England but have lived overseas for many years. For the last fourteen years I have been living in Brunei which is a tiny country ruled by the Sultan of Brunei, on the island of Borneo in South East Asia. This tropical location is a wonderful source of inspiration for the art quilts that I like to create, although living in this far away location it can be difficult getting supplies and I have to rely very heavily on mail order.

I have loved fabrics and making things for almost as long as I can remember, collecting scraps as a child so I could make dolls’ clothes. I always preferred making the clothes rather than actually playing with the dolls. I made my first patchwork quilt when I was about thirteen using dress fabrics and the method of paper piecing that was popular in England then, using paper templates to create a Grandmother’s Flower Garden Quilt.
