International Quilt Festival/Chicago plans to showcase Canadian quilts and their makers in a special exhibit, O Canada 2010. This exhibit will be one of the highlights of Festival, April 16-18, 2010, at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. This exhibit is open to residents currently residing in Canada. You must reside in a Canadian province to be eligible for this exhibit.

We would like to invite you to participate in this exciting exhibit focusing on the Canadian quilter. You may submit a total of five quilts for our consideration. Quilts need not be made specifically for this exhibit. Traditional or art, all quilts made by residents of Canada will be considered. Please do not submit a quilt that was included in a previous edition of O Canada.

Each quilt must have its own form completed and sent to us with visuals to be considered for the exhibit. You may complete the form online and return it to us by e-mail or regular mail. We will accept 35 mm slides or hi-resolution JPEG or TIFF digital images. PLEASE SEND YOUR DIGITAL IMAGES TO spexentries@quilts.com

Completed submissions with visuals must be received in our office by January 20, 2010. You will be notified no later than Wednesday, February 12, 2010, regarding the quilts to be included in this exhibit, along with shipping instructions. If selected, the quilts will need to arrive in Houston no later than Friday, March 12, 2010, and will be returned to you no later than May 30, 2010, if they are not a part of the traveling exhibit. If you choose to permit your quilt to travel and it is accepted for exhibition, your quilt will be returned no later than November 30, 2010.

Again, I know nothing else about this and the information may change without my knowledge. Please visit the IQF site for more info.

Death By Quilting – The Most Extreme Game Site on the Internet

Death by Quilting

By: Pat Sloan

It’s Fun, it’s fast, and sometimes a tad wicked…. it’s Death By Quilting (DBQ) and it’s on the internet now! I decided we ‘obsessed’ quilters need a fun place to play quilt games. Like Swaps, One on One trades and I developed my own ultimate EXTREME game of ‘Death By Quilting’. Kind of like ‘Death by Chocolate’ only better!

The games are played at my DBQ website and forum. The site has the games outlined, start dates and even a blog were I post game results, winners and general game info.

So what IS an extreme quilt game and how does it work? The short version is that it’s a game where everyone starts the same day and the ultimate goal is to ‘knock out’ your opponents. Each person makes a project. When you finished your project you mail it to your ‘Target’. When you target RECEIVES the project in the mail, your target is then ‘dead’ or ‘knocked out of the game’.

IF your target has not already mailed THEIR project, than it is sent to the person who ‘knocked them out of the game’ to finish it. This is the EXTREME part and it’s SUPER fun!

Because of the mailing time we are grouping games by Country so there is no delay of a package coming or going to another country.

Right now we have the “Cabana Boy” EXTREME Quilt Challenge in progress. So you can come and watch it to see how it works! This is a US based game.

I am collecting names for quilters who want to play in other countries. It would be awesome to have games going on all over the world! If you want to get your name on the list for a game in YOUR country… go to this site and enter your name in your country contact list. If your country is not there email me.

Here is where you can read more…

Each game has directions …. I hope to see you there!

Enter the $10,000 Dream Sewing Room Makeover Contest

Deb from Stitchin’ Heaven and Jerry from Quilter’s Quarters dropped by the Quilt Shop Locator booth at Spring Market.

They told me about the $10,000 Dream Sewing Room Makeover contest they are sponsoring (along with Everything Quilts and Pine Needles).

Here’s a photo of Deb and I checking out the contest web site. I entered the contest and won a free quilting book. I’ll let you know what book I won when it arrives from Texas. (It’s a mystery!)
