Swap Guidelines
Lenna Green from the Stitching Cow has created this super cute embroidery pattern for this swap. You can stitch it in redwork, like Lenna’s sample, or with coloured embroidery floss.
New to embroidery? Don’t worry, so am I. Over the past several months, Lenna’s put together some fabulous tutorials to get you started and several videos on how to do each of the stitches used to complete the embroidery.
Once stitched, you’ll trim the stitchery to 4.5″ x 6.5″ (unfinished), then add borders to complete your mini quilt at 10″ x 12″. Your finished mini quilt must be bound (not pillow-turned and no zig-zagged edges), include a way to hang it (sleeve, tabs, hook), a label and be washable (use good-quality fabrics and test your embroidery floss for colour fastness).
Any particular preferences your partner entered when they registered for the swap, will be sent to you. Make something you’d love to receive and, chances are, your partner will love it too.
Registration closes April 21st. Partner information will be sent by April 24th. The deadline to mail your mini quilt is May 24th for overseas shipments and June 1st for domestic shipments (and Canada/USA).
Mandatory requirements for this swap:
- The stitchery using Lenna’s pattern, finished size 4″ x 6″ (you may use whatever colour of background fabric for the stitchery that you like)
- Add borders to your stitchery, to make a mini quilt with a finished size of 10″ x 12″
- Hanging option
- Bind the mini quilt
- Add a label
- Washable
- Have fun and make new friends!!
It’s a SECRET swap, so please don’t tell your partner who you are in advance , but go ahead and post pictures of your progress on your blog and in the Flickr group.
