Monday's a holiday here, so I'm planning to enjoy some quilting time.  There's the Nascar Daytona to watch, and of course, the OLYMPICS!!

My goals:

Finish binding the charity quilt, only a couple of feet left to do, then I can put it in the wash and deliver it next week.  This is the one I'm working on:

This one is done and ready.  Will post final pictures once they are washed.

I need to finish the modern siggy blocks for Rachel's swap.

I have the two winter swap quilts to do.  Have barely started them.  I'm making an extra in case we need an angel quilt.  Hopefully we won't have any bad swappers this time around, and one can stay here with me.

I also need to get Lucy's (my almost 4-year old niece) birthday present done.  I'm making her a portfolio using Geta's tutorial

And if there's time, I'm working on a wall hanging for a girlfriend.  It's on my design wall at the moment.

What about you? What are you weekend stitching plans?

I've got a guild meeting tonight, and then I'm hoping to fit in a bit of stitching over the weekend – probably some hand work only though.  We are getting into a reno and my sewing area will be "compromised" for the next little while.  Also hoping to take in some Olympic coverage as well.  Very sad news to start things off – my heart goes out to the Georgian team.

Switching on the opening ceremonies soon.  Tragic news to start off the games tho.  :(

I don't know BC geography well at all.  How close are you to Vancouver?

very close – New Westminster is about 15 km from downtown, and I will be working in Vancouver starting in March.  I've been downtown a couple of times the last few days and the excitment is incredible!  We're hoping to take in some of the free celebration sites, too!

This weekend I'm working on my Baltimore Bliss blocks. I'm hand quilting the blocks seperately and will join them with the quilt as you go method. This was a free bom in 2009 but due to popular demand Sindy Rodenmayer is posting it again. You can find it on http://www.fatcatpatterns.com under "BOM's".

Janet, how wonderful to be so close.  Enjoy!!

Anita, your blocks are gorgeous.. lovely colours.  I'd love to see how you put them together at the end.  I've been playing with some quilt as you go ideas myself.  Never enough time!

Yep Michele, I know what you mean, there are just not enough hours in the day! I'm hand quilting the blocks with a simple grid. Working with those colours bring me  in a "sweet" mood, never used so much pink. Some time ago I read about a quilter (don't know the name anymore) who makes big square blocks, sandwiches and quilts them and after that sews on the applique!! I'm going to try that next time. When her blocks were done, she sewed them together with the quilt as you go method, I think this method is awesome, not a big bulk in your lap anymore. You can do it with or without sashings, it's the first time I'm trying it but I'm already a fan. Enjoy the Olympics!

Anita – those blocks are gorgeous!  I've not tried to quilt as you go and then join the blocks after they are quilted, although I do want to.  It is that demon time as Michele has said – how can we find the time to do all the wonderful things that we see and think of?  I'm afraid there probably won't be a lot of sewing the next couple of weeks, what with watching all the olympic coverage on tv.  Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!
