I made this photo quilt as a present for my husband and his trip to the Galapagos Islands. It hangs in our home and is a wonderful reminder for him of a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

I needed a quilt for a package I was designing for one of my quilt frame products. I have never quilted before, but designed it and went to work. It a wall hanging 44"x10". It is made of nearly one hundred pieces of fabric, some as small as 1/4 of an inch. I really enjoyed doing the quilt.

I made this small wall hanging at a workshop. I had a lot of fun learning new techniques on how to couch and made 3D insects, frogs and plants.

I enjoyed my 1st attempt at Trapunto quilting.

My quilt group had a challenge about 3 years ago - make a small quilt on the theme of spring, without using green or yellow - this was my design.

It measures approx 24" square. The blossoms are gathered organza ribbons and the centres are sequins. This was my own design.

I chose the colors for this quilt based on the black fabric used to make the dancing stars. This quilt is heavily quilted and hangs in my breakfast nook. I espcially love the rainbow border and pieced binding. I hope you do too!

I took a class at Arrowmont in the Smoky Mts. on discharge dyeing on rayon and silk. The background of this quilt was one result. The black trees and the color are part of the dyeing..I added some more trees to extend into my quilted border. Quilt size: approx. 24" x 30"

This pattern was designed by Christine Baker from Canada, and the first time I saw it I had to have it, I had some of the fabrics in my stash, and some I found while we were on summer holidays. This is one of my favorite quilt's and I can't wait to hang it up every fall. It measures 27" x 35"

I made this for my husband's grandma that lives in California. I've been making her items that are season themed. Notice the dead grass, as this time of year the grass is often brown in California.

My grandmother asked me to make a quilt for my cousin. His dad is in the Navy. The frogs and sail boats represent my uncle. The sail boats are appliqued using a pattern I made. I used blue Ric Rac for the waves. It also represents our love for the ocean.

I like hand sewing. And this children's quilt is sewed certenly on hand! It was a long time and this work went on travels with me over Russia and Europe.

Wall hanging. Center is made with a garden embroidery motif and the outside border is a garden trellis pattern depicting different flowers in each block.

My (Rose's) sister's birthday is in August and the gladiola is the birth flower for that month. I designed the flower, pieced it together and did the quilting. My husband did the coloring of the petals with Shiva Paintsticks. This is the second version, which I donated to AAQI for auction.

pre-made bias tape applied with a twin needle.
It measures 18x18 and is heavily free motion
quilted with decorative threads. I think it is
an elegant yet simple design.

As a brand new trucker's spouse, I suddenly had a lot of time on my hands and decided to learn how to garden. One of my favorite spots is my new lily garden. This quilt commemorates my first year as a gardener and, as it is for the Summertime swap, shares that new passion with my swap mate.

I made my wallhanging as a challenge, starting with only the tree drawn by Sue Spargo.

I added the birdhouse, morning glories and the hummingbird. Then thought to add the other birds and their feeders. I added my dog Suede barking at the squirrel which woke up the raccoon in the tree. 23"x26"

I wanted to do something for the Autism site but had no idea of what to make. In the absent of 9 months not doing any art quilts for almost 9 months..I found this fabric and my thoughts were crazy..Than here is Orange Bloomers. It was fun to get into art quilting again. hugs, Lorraine Strohkirch

I love the embroidery in quilts. This is needle turn applique and hand embroidery. This quilt was tied and each stitch was hidden behind a bead.This is my own design, 8.5"x15".

My brother and his wife stay in Pringle Bay, an hour outside of Cape Town. There are different troops of baboons living in the mountains around Pringle Bay. While visiting I took pictures of the baboons playing in the trees outside their house. That was my inspiration for this quilt.

All but 3 of the leaves on this quilt are actual maple leaves that had been preserved and then extensively thread painted, while others are under a layer of tulle. The background fabric is hand painted, the tree is 3D. The 3 "fabric" leaves have text on them that speaks of my Canada. Original design

This was the quilt I made for the 'In The Good 'Ol Summertime' Swap.
Onto a piece of organza I printed a photograph of seagulls flying over the sea and laid that onto a background of sky and sea. I then appliquéd a little Victorian boy holding his yacht standing by the edge of the sea watching...

An attempt at needle turned applique. The pattern is one block from Aunt Millie's Garden by Piece 'o Cake.

This is Swimmy the little black fish from the child's book. The story is my favorite. I was 5 years old - well near 6 - I sewed this quilt with a bit help from my mom. We stamped all the fishes and worked in small parts. The quilt is 35 to 35 inch and I´m a boy!

I live on a lake in British Columbia and from my windows I can see a tree that constantly fascinates me in any season, at any time of the day. The Tree is a thread painted interpretation of this tree.

I cut this quilt out on my new Accuquilt Go cutter and sewed it and quilted it using my Bernina 830. It was quilted in an embroidery hoop using the embroidery module

This quilt was designed for a class I taught. I love the fall colors and how they feel. Living in Arizona we don't get a fall season. This quilt is great to cuddle with during fall and remind me that somewhere someone is enjoying real falling leaves. Check out my blog for more pictures.
