News from the Quilting Gallery
- The month of July featured some wonderful Charity Quilting projects, organizations and quilters. You can find a list of the various posts under Mishka’s Picks below.
- The Quilting Gallery and Quilting Bloggers directory was featured in the July edition [PDF Format] of The Whimsical Honeypot (look for it on pages 13 and 14). Thanks Darlene!
- The Quilting Bloggers directory has reached just under 1,400 bloggers representing 43 different countries.
- The first Guest Blogger was featured on the site, Barb Aguiar from Massachusetts, USA. If you’re interested in being a Guest Blogger, just send me an email and we’ll discuss.
- The mailman delivered two wonderful packages this month. My Doll Quilt Swap arrived from Alison and Rachel sent me Market in a Box containing a selection of goodies from Spring Market. Thanks ladies!
Coming soon to the Quilting Gallery…
- The Lazy Days of Summer photo contest will begin later this week. Check the blog in a couple of days to find out all the details. I’ll be giving away one of the mini-quilts I’ve been working on this summer and I have a donation of some hand-dyed fabrics for another prize. If you’re interested in donating a prize, please send me an email in the next day or two.
- I’ll be launching an entirely new section to the Quilting Gallery site in a week. I’m super excited about it, and I hope you will be too. Watch the tabs at the top of the site to see what it’s all about.
- I’m heading off to the Nashville AQS show in the middle of August. The trip will include travelling through 8 different States, most of which I’ll spend at least one night. I hope to have lots of photos to post on the site. If you’re going to the show and want to get together, let me know.
Mishka’s Picks

This month I take a detour from the usual monthly picks and instead recap the wonderful Charity Quilting projects and quilters that were featured on the site.

Around the Web

Two great places worth visiting:
- Michele Bilyeu has put together a list of sites containing more than 2,500 free quilting patterns for you to download. There’s bound to be something for everyone to be found.
- I’m a huge fan of Sharon Schamber’s Binding with Elmer’s School Glue videos. I was thrilled to get an email notice from YouTube the other day informing me that Sharon has released several new videos. I especially liked the ones that showed how to shrink and stretch a quilt block, and the one on how to clean your iron.
Chuckle Time
Florist Mix-Up
On opening his new store, a man received a bouquet of flowers. He became dismayed on reading the enclosed card, that it expressed "Deepest Sympathy".
While puzzling over the message, his telephone rang. It was the florist, apologizing for having sent the wrong card.
"Oh, it’s all right." said the storekeeper. "I’m a businessman and I understand how these things can happen."
"But," added the florist, "I accidentally sent your card to a funeral party."
"Well, what did it say?" asked the storekeeper.
"Congratulations on your new location." was the reply.
