Tulip Hill

A great project for Spring, Tulip Hill. I would be inclined to make this pattern smaller, as it would be a gorgeous wall hanging. I simply adore tulips, and am really looking forward to the Ottawa Tulip Festival coming in May.

Singlet Style Shopping Bag

Not exactly quilting, but it still uses fabric. I really like this shopping bag tutorial. Before I left Canada for six weeks in Argentina, where I am now, I was trying really hard not to get any plastic shopping bags. I was doing quite well, and will pick up the habit again when I return. [...]

Charm Square Quilt

Here’s a fantastic way to use up charm squares, Charm Square Quilt. You start with a basic nine patch of charms, then cut them down the middle and re-arrange with gorgeous results. The finished piece looks more complicated than it really is, just don’t tell any of your non-quilting friends and they’ll never know the [...]

Foundation Favorites

From Quiltmaker, 24 free foundation pieced patterns. Each pattern given creates an 8-inch block, but you can re-size as needed. Excellent instructions, full-sized patterns, and samples if you decide to repeat one block. My favourite block is Hosannah, as it looks like tulips, which are one of my favourite flowers. What’s yours?

Catch a Spinning Star

Here’s a great free pattern, Catch a Spinning Star. This quilt consists of a pinwheel in the center of an Ohio Star, anchored by a pieced sashing so there are no points meeting when the blocks are assembled into rows. I love how the stars float. Photo used with permission from Judy Laquidara… Thanks!
