Fat Quarter Shop

We meet again, Quilting Gallery folks!

We are just back from Market (can I say “Market fresh”?) and hopefully you followed us on our Market adventure through our blog, the Jolly Jabber. We always have a blast seeing what’s new in the quilt world and making our plans for the next season. But now it’s time to get ready for all the goodies we bought while there, and for new Christmas fabrics as well! (For those of you obsessed with the winter holidays, you must bookmark our Christmas Cloth Store for fabrics devoted exclusively to that merry season!)

For all of the goodies coming in, Christmas-y or not, keep an eye on our What’s New pages that will be exploding any moment now. And our Coming Soon pages too, where we show you all we can of what’s in the Fat Quarter Shop future, that will be even more explosive.

Of course, you can always check our Facebook and Twitter for even more news, specials, contests & giveaways!

Our prize for this week’s contest is a Gift Certificate for $50 to Fat Quarter Shop! Good luck – hope your flying geese “fly” you straight to the prize!

Thanks again to Michele for letting us get involved!

Weekly Quilt Contest: Bugs and Birds

Congratulations to Becky Ray of Tennessee for winning last week’s Spring Garden quilt contest, with her beautiful Evening Primrose quilt. Becky wins a gift certificate from Jojo’s Quilt and Gift Shoppe.

This week’s theme is Bugs and Birds and is sponsored by one of my favourite quilt authors Marie Bostwick. She’ll be giving away a copy of her new book A THREAD SO THIN to both the first and second place winners. To enter, read the rules and guidelines, then submit your quilt photo. Voting will start on Friday and last until Sunday night.

Marie Bostwick

My Cobbled Court Quilt novels, A SINGLE THREAD, A THREAD OF TRUTH, and the newest, A THREAD SO THIN, celebrate the community and camaraderie that exists among quilters.

As you might suppose, when one of their sisters-in-stitches faces a challenge, reaches a milestone, or needs a little encouragement, the characters of my Cobbled Court Quilt novels often get together to make a quilt. If you’re a quilter, chances are you’ve done the same for someone close to you. And why not? There’s nothing that says, “I care,” quite as eloquently as a quilt made by caring hands.

In my sixth novel, the youngest member of the Cobbled Court Quilt Circle stands at a crossroads that women of all ages can relate to. Liza, the once-rebellious granddaughter of town leader Abigail Spaulding, is finishing art school in New York City. Having struggled to find herself, Liza is torn. Does she accept the proposal of Evelyn’s son, Garrett, or pursue a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity in far-away Chicago? Everyone in New Bern has a different opinion, especially all those quilters. If only Liza could decide.

If you’d like to read a sample chapter from A THREAD SO THIN, follow the link to my website, www.mariebostwick.com and click on the book cover.

Also, if you register as one of my Reading Friends, you can get a free download for the quilt pattern inspired by the one that Evelyn, Abigail and Margot make for Liza make in A THREAD SO THIN. Becoming a Reading Friend is easy, just go to www.mariebostwick.com click on the box that says “Become a Reading Friend…”, fill in the information on the registration form (which is never shared with anyone), and submit it. Once your registration is activated, just login, scroll down to the quilt banner under my signature, and click to start the download.

Happy quilting…and reading!

Quilter’s Library

I’m very excited to announce the launch of the latest section of the Quilting Gallery site: Quilter’s Library. My goal with the Library is to offer a simple and inexpensive way for designers, authors and publishers to market their quilting products directly to quilters from around the world.

For just a few minutes of your time and a small fee, you can list products in the Quilter’s Library. The cost to list each product is just $6.00 (goes up to $8.00 on June 15, 2010). See a sample ad for the Quilter’s Cookbook.

You have full control over what information is presented in your ad. You can upload unlimited photos for each product. You will select from various options in: media types (e.g. books, patterns, videos, etc.), experience levels and categories (e.g. applique, quick & easy projects, traditional quilts, etc.).

Additionally, for each product you can add:

  • product name
  • link to purchase on your web site
  • product description
  • product keywords/tags
  • your name, company, web site, Facebook, Twitter, blog and email
  • publisher’s name and web site
