Weekly Quilt Contest: Crazy Patchwork Quilts

Congratulations to Shirley Jacobs for winning last week’s Halloween quilt contest. She won win a fat quarter bundle from the Fat Quarter Shop.

This week’s theme is Crazy Patchwork Quilts and is sponsored by Sheree’s Alchemy. Two lucky winners will each win a $25 gift certificate to use in Sheree’s online store.

About Sheree’s Alchemy

My name is Sheree and I am the owner of Sheree’s Alchemy. My motto is LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH…CREATE!

I created Sheree’s Alchemy to share my love of fabric, color and the art of making. I hope you’ll find something here that will inspire you to create lovely things for yourself as well as for those you love. I am primarily a garment maker myself, but have fallen for patchwork and quilting over the last 4 years. I also enjoy knitting, embroidery and felting as well as cooking and gardening. I have a blog too.

In my shop, Sheree’s Alchemy, you’ll find an edited selection of fine natural fabrics perfect for sewing, quilting, crafting and home decor projects. Here, you’ll find some lovely organic cotton fabrics in stock.

You’ll also find a host of fat quarter and mixed fabric bundles perfect for stash building or for using in your next quilting or patchwork project.

The apparel fabrics we offer are of the highest quality as well. You’ll find new as well as out-of-print, rare and hard to find prints from domestic designers including Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Anna Maria Horner, Denyse Schmidt, Kaffe Fassett, Momo’s and more. You’ll also find a collection of European and Japanese import fabrics that will really add uniqueness and beauty to your creations. I will be adding some wonderful vintage treasures to the shop soon, so look out for updates on that.

I am excited to sponsor this week’s themed contest…Crazy Patchwork Quilts! I will give away two $25 gift certificates to my online shop.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone’s entries. Good luck to you all!

xo,
Sheree

Springtime Chubby Chicks – Blogger’s Quilt Festival

Here’s my entry for Amy’s Blogger’s Quilt Festival.

Amy's Creative Side - Blogger's Quilt Festival

I made this Springtime Chubby Chicks quilt for my folks earlier this year to celebrate them moving into a new house. The pattern is from Black Mountain Quilts, the green chick fabric is from Pat Sloan’s Nikki line and the chicks are assorted 1930′s scraps.

Testing the layout.

The chicks were done with a machine blanket stitch.

Machine blanket stitch.

All stitched, ready to be layered and quilted.

I did a small meander around each chick and 1/2 circles in the pin wheels. The borders have a larger meander stitch.

Quilting!

I used Quilter’s Dream Poly request weight for the batting. I love this batting as it is very thin and easier than others to manipulate through my machine and it washes up beautifully.

All done.

Quilted puffy goodness.

Head over to Amy’s to see the Blogger’s Quilt Festival.

Spoooooooky quilts! Check out this week’s quilt contest and vote for your favourite Halloween quilt.
