Last Fall, I was asked if I wanted to participate in a blog hop party for the new book, Vintage Quilt Revival authored by three very talented bloggers:

Of course, I said YES. Today is my special day, along with others. See below for the full list of participants taking part this week.
We were all asked to make one of the blocks from the book and send it to Lee. The blocks that we made have been sewn into charity quilts and you’ll be able to see them on Friday at the authors’ blogs. I can’t wait to see what everyone made.
I chose to make the Double Windmill block that was designed by Katie and is featured on page 118. It is foundation paper pieced and has partial seams. I was up for the challenge! I think it took me longer to pick the seven fabrics (I used six) needed from my stash then it did to actually sew the blocks. I love blocks that require multiple fabrics as it’s a challenge for me to pick the fabrics from stash and avoid being all matchy-matchy.
I made two blocks, the second one was sent to Pat Sloan for her birthday quilt. Here are my fabrics:

I love how it turned out and the detailed drawings in the book and instructions on sewing a partial seam were fantastic. I did run into a tiny problem as the instructions for cutting a few of the pieces are incorrect. If you decide to make this block, get the errata info on the Vintage Quilt Revival site.
Below are the 20 blocks included in the book. It also includes 19 full project patterns that use the blocks in unique and unexpected ways and three beautiful sampler quilt patterns, each featuring all 20 blocks. A CD is also included so there’s no need to trace the paper pieced blocks as you can print them directly from your computer.
The book is simply gorgeous. The detailed drawings and technical information are excellent. The various projects are fun and inspiring. Kudos to the three authors, this book is definitely a keeper.

Love the block and the color choices. I would not choose those, as I tend to get stuck in a rut. The colors are great together.
